Tua threw 5 INTs in 15 minutes and Howard didn't show up.

Well, at least no one died. Tomorrow is another day.

The problem with stats like this from training camp is that it doesn’t really tell you much about the team as a whole.

Option A - The QB sucks.

Option B - The secondary is awesome.

Option C   First day of camp means absolutely nothing.  Well, it means something if someone gets a bad injury.  But other than that, it means absolutely nothing.

In training camp stats like this are meaningless. We don't even know what the design of the drill was. Maybe it was a designed tight window drill where in a game situation he looks at another option or throws it away.

 QB Tua Tagovailoa on the goal of practice today for the QBs/offense.

We wanted to be aggressive in the passing game, see if we could fit throws in. We wanted to be aggressive in these conditions. The emphasis was to push the ball downfield.


I'm not worried.  Reid did this with Mahomes as well to see what did and didn't work.  Also they were practicing in a monsoon.  Also it's the first day.

Aaron Rogers actually said this in an interview, at the beginning of training camp he pushes his receivers on purpose to find out what the limits are and he expects to get picked alot before he figures out where to reign in throws.

No one with the team seems to be bothered. Conditions were horrible for much of practice as it was basically monsooning at time. Most of the Dolphins other coaches would have moved inside but Flores went old school Shula and played in the elements.  Tua was upbeat after practice and said now that they have some tape they would adjust certain things.

This is just stuff to talk about in the dead part of the offseaosn, it really isn't a big deal. I'm sure they were doing drills where they were trying to thread the needle and it's literally Day 1. I'm sure Tua didn't forget how to play football over the spring.

They went into the bubble today and worked on red zone offense. With that said ... here's what Flores had to say today about Tua.

“I don’t think Tua’s going to go into a shell,” Flores said, via Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald. “I tell him [after a practice like that] to continue being aggressive. The conversations are a lot of what we’ve already talked about here — use this time to practice pushing the ball downfield. Then we’ll make the adjustments and the corrections.”

Flores added t hat practice is a time to “test the waters and see what works, what doesn’t work.”

The head coach compared Tagovailoa attempting those throws to a kicker attempting a 60-yard field goal — there’s no way to know it will or won’t work until you try it.
