This team was not a playoff contender, not even close.   And they will not be going there.

The seven game winning streak may feel good, but most of those games were against subpar competition.  When it came time to play with the big boys in the conference, they got the field wiped with them.

They are THREE PLAYS!!!! away from being 11-5

It's a matter of getting the breaks, and they have not gotten them for twenty years

WHAT DON'T YOU PEOPLE GET????

They were 4 plays away from being 4-10-2. 6 plays from being 4-12.  And 8 plays from being 3-13.  But they are 8-8, not 4-12 nor 11-5.

There was no point this year when the team sustained proficiency with regard to the strongest predictors of winning in the NFL.  There was no point this year when I thought they possessed the key ingredients the best teams in the league possess.

That was true last year as well, in that their pass defense feasted on weak teams, was exploited by good ones, and persisted largely on random takeaways, and they had a mediocre pass offense overall.

At no point in the Grier/Flores era has the team become the caliber of the league's best teams.  They've essentially gotten lucky with a year of a high number of defensive takeaways, something that won't likely be replicated and thus serves as a mirage of the trajectory the team was on.

What you don't get is that it's not about the record.  This team isn't good and hasn't been good.  We are a lot closer to having fewer wins that to having more wins.  We are a bad football team without a functioning offense.  So, even if we play every team with COVID and the easiest schedule and sneak in with 10 wins, we get blown out by the first competent team we face.  We are bad, regardless of record and have been bad all year.

Now those Dolphins yesterday? Those were the Dolphins that we all know and love.

I feel like we were a better team last year in many aspects, mainly defense and O-Line play. We are trending in the wrong direction despite our top 3 draft picks doing very well. We really bombed in free agency this year, focusing on depth guys rather than difference makers.

Just beat the Effin Patsies next week to complete the sweep. That will save the season for me.

Wrong, every win during the streak was comfortable.  I am referring to the three games they lost in the last minute.  One play would have made the difference in those games.

As Bill Parcells famously and correctly stated years ago, "You are what your record says you are."  Playing the "if" game is for losers.  Losers make excuses.  Winners don't have to make excuses because they win.  10 years from now, everyone will remember who wins the Super Bowl this year, nobody is going to remember any of the teams that "woulda made the playoffs if not for not getting any breaks".   The guy who got a smile from the prom queen when he opened the door for her once on the way out of English class is irrelevant.  The guy who banged the prom queen is the big man on campus.  The only thing excuses accomplish is they help losers to feel better about themselves.   

I can't remember who won the SB last year....actually I can now that I think about it, but it took me a while. I actually can't tell you who won the year before that. Unless the Dolphins win it, won't be that memorable for me.

Obviously Edge you have selective memory... hahaha.  They haven't been decent since shortly after Richie Incognito was sent out. We were 28th out of 32 last year.

Tip: If you are unsure what team won a specific superbowl during the last 20 years, best to just guess the team Brady was the QB on.  Your odds of being correct is slightly less than half.

Similarly, if you are unsure whether Tom Brady lost a specific Wild Card game during his career, best to just guess yes.  Your odds of being correct are 66%.

Not even close! He is 13-2 when playing wildcard game. Or are you talking about extremely small sample size of wild card *Road Games*? 

But guessing if the home team or road team won a specific wildcard game — go with the home team.
