Title: With the 29th pick of the NFL draft the Miami Dolphins select ....
Post by: CF DolFan on January 31, 2022, 10:17:16 am
Just looking a the 29th pick over the last 12 drafts it doesn't seem like a great place for an impact player. I've posted a list of every 29th pick since 2010.  Who do you think will be around then and who do you think we should select?

2021: CB Eric Stokes - Green Bay Packers
2020: OT Isaiah Wilson - Tennessee Titans
2019: DE L.J. Collier - Seattle Seahawks
2018: DT Taven Bryan - Jacksonville Jaguars
2017: TE David Njoku - Cleveland Browns
2016: DT Robert Nkemdiche - Arizona Cardinals
2015: WR Phillip Dorsett - Indianapolis Colts
2014: DT Dominique Easley - New England Patriots
2013: WR Cordarrelle Patterson - Minnesota Vikings
2012: S Harrison Smith - Minnesota Vikings
2011: OT Gabe Carimi - Chicago Bears
2010: CB Kyle Wilson - New York Jets

There are 4 good running backs (and maybe more) that are going to be in the draft this year.  The best one from Michigan State will probably be available, so I say him.

Already forgot about Isaiah Wilson. What a waste.

Ikem Ekwonu OT  NC State

Nicholas Petit-Frere OT  Ohio State

Kenyon Green- OG  Texas A&M

Any of these guys will instantly upgrade the O-Line.

I think free agency is the way to go with the line. We got the cash, just get the best RT on the market. Better coaching should fix the rest since I don't subscribe to the theory that Jackson, Eichenberg and Solomon forgot how to play football during last offseason.

Well that makes for some depressing reading... maybe we should trade it to the Vikings.  :o :D

^^^

I'm all for trading picks to dumb teams trying to rebuild for much more value in the future, but I don't think anyone will be clamoring for the 29th pick. Our best case trading scenario is probably someone picking 34th who wants to move up for that extra 5th year and we net a 3rd rounder in the process.

Unlike last year CBS doesn't have any of the RBs rated in the top 50 (let alone top 20). Plus we don't have the luxury of multiple firsts to blow one on a RB...

With our 2nd rounder at pick 50 I think we can afford to wait and one of those four guys should be there - if we still have Duke and Lindsay on the roster, it's less of a dire need than last year too.

I'm not sure what you saw in Eichenberg last season to be lumped in with Jackson & Solomon, he looked to be a Dallas Thomas sized dud from day one.

Talking about his college reel. He was a solid pick for us and he was terrible from Day 1. I just don't think we missed on all of these draft picks, seems much more likely we blew it with coaching. Constant line shuffling backs that up. We'll see this year with our new coaching staff, hopefully.

People talk about sabotaging Tua (which I don't subscribe to), Eichenberg has been sabotaged.  They have bounced him all over the line, I think he's played every position except center.  I hold out hope that he can be a solid player if they just put him at RT and leave him there.
