I remember having to walk across the living room to change the channel on the TV.   And if I wanted to find out what was on, I had to look in the TV Guide that came with the Miami Herald each week.

I remember when saturday morning cartoons were actually cartoons

I remember my dad buying me an Atari and playing it on a 10inch box tv

I remember picking up the phone at my grandmother's house and her neighbors would be having a conversation. She had a "party line" until I was 9 or 10 I'd say. You'd have to wait to use the phone just like they were in your house.

I had a rotary phone when I was a kid.

I remember when sodas were made with real sugar, not that nasty high fructose corn syrup.   

My go to soda is Check Cola from Winn Dixie.   Made with real sugar.

"At the tone, Pacific Standard Time will be... Nine Seventeen... and twenty seconds.  BEEP"

I used to call Time whenever I got a new clock or watch.

Or when some tv stations would stop broadcasting for the night? I think it was channel 68 in Boston that at midnight the screen would cut to a fighter plane flying across blue sky and a superimposed US flag to The Star Spangled Banner Banner or God Bless America, and then vertical colored bars on the screen. And that was it for their broadcasting day.

Nickelodeon and A&E were one channel that switched over at night-time.

I had to refill ice trays as a child.

I think that's more class-based than era-based.

If you have a cheap refrigerator, or if you live in an older house with no water line for the fridge, you're still refilling ice trays in 2022.

Hahaha ya baby. I just refilled an ice tray before coming onto the board. First world problems man.  Pro tip. Hot water freezes faster than cold. Gotta keep those drinks coming.

If I wanted to listen to a band, I had to buy the CD/Tape and listen to the whole thing, thus giving me an appreciation of the music as opposed to having the world at my fingertips and having the balls to say "I'm bored".

Yes, I am crotchety and have a Unabomber hatred of modern technology.

Oh yeah, you just reminded me of having a walkman.

If I was away from home and needed to call my parents or someone else, I would either have to borrow a quarter to use the pay phone or go into a store and ask to use their phone.   

To make a mix tape I would buy a blank tape and wait for the songs I liked to play on the radio, then I'd push the record button down, wait for the song to end and hit stop.  Then wait for the next song I liked and do it again until the tape was full.

I used to not be home when a show I liked was airing and then I just missed it forever.

And the stupid DJ thought it was appropriate to talk over every song intro and then stop when the lyrics started.

But then they invented VCR+!

Yeah, those DJ's talked way too much when trying to record something. What I would sometimes do was turn my radio on going to bed and hit record and then see what I got the next day.

Sodas came in glass bottles and if you won a prize it said so right on the bottle cap.

It doesn't REALLY freeze faster.  It just evaporates some of it first and then freezes.  So, while it may freeze fasters in some very specific conditions, it's only because there's less water to freeze.

I thought that it had something to do with molecules in hot water moving faster and burning off energy faster than molecules in cold water do. Making the hot water freeze faster. I haven’t taken chemistry for a loooong time anyway.
But Phish. I don’t think I ever had soda in a glass bottle. Does it make a difference?

To me, it never made sense that a liter of water at 90C could freeze faster than a liter of water at 40C, as the 90C water has to pass through 40C to get to 0C.

Hanging next to the phone in the kitchen we had the police and fire departments phone numbers.

Stink, there definitely was a difference with glass bottles but they also used real sugar then also. I'm not sure how much each contributed.

Being able to record shows was huge deal to my generation. We missed every show we couldn't be there to watch.

I remember watching tv with rabbit ears.

I memorized and still know the old phone numbers of most of my friends.

If I wanted to buy tickets to a concert, I had to get up early and wait outside my local independent music store and place the order with them and hope they weren't all sold out by the time I got to the front of the line.
