Title: Game Balls - vs. Bills Post by: Spider-Dan on September 25, 2022, 04:51:34 pm DC Josh Boyer.
Before this game, analysts were talking about how BUF has the most unstoppable offense in the league. Pat McAfee and AJ Hawk were saying that the Bills might be getting college-football-like lines of BUF -20 or whatever. NOPE The over totals for this week were huge. Everyone expected MIA's defense to get steamrolled by the mighty Buffalo buzzsaw, with the Dolphins' only chance to win being a shootout. And the Bills put up plenty of yards... but the scoreboard doesn't track yards. Title: Re: Game Balls - vs. Bills Post by: Dave Gray on September 25, 2022, 06:05:33 pm I go with Waddle. Big catches, big yards.
This was a weird game. I don't feel like we played particularly well defensively. The Bills moved the ball all game. We had so many "almosts" but couldn't ever make the big play, the INT, the sack, etc. It was just making them convert on 3rd down over and over again. Yet.....the Bills only scored 17 offensively. So, I'm not sure how that happened. If I'm being cheeky, the game ball goes to whatever medical professional allowed Tua to claim a "lower back injury" and avoid concussion protocol. He wouldn't have been allowed to play and I have a feeling we're going to get figured out and fined for it or lose picks, because we did that shit once before and got dinged for it. Title: Re: Game Balls - vs. Bills Post by: Sunstroke on September 25, 2022, 06:36:08 pm I may be a bit biased, because he is my favorite Miami defensive player, but my game ball goes to Jevon Holland. 10.5 tackles (9 solo) 1.5 sacks 1 forced fumble 2 passes defensed. Jevon was all over the place this game, and everywhere he went, he made plays. Title: Re: Game Balls - vs. Bills Post by: EDGECRUSHER on September 25, 2022, 07:26:38 pm Jevon Holland with HM to Josh Boyer. Held the best offense in the NFL to 17 points and even forced a turnover that led to an easy 7 for us. So glad he was retained when Flores got fired.

Title: Re: Game Balls - vs. Bills Post by: Pappy13 on September 26, 2022, 12:54:59 am Tua...for being a leader. He's starting to become the leader of the team and the face of the franchise which is what all the doubters have wanted to see all along. It's finally starting to happen. Very happy for him. He's taken his lumps, nice to see him battle through it and start to see some success.
Title: Re: Game Balls - vs. Bills Post by: fyo on September 26, 2022, 07:35:51 am Tough game to find a single player to give the Game Ball to. You want to give it to someone on the defense for holding the Bills' offense to 17 points, but on the other hand, the number of dropped interceptions was alarming. Likewise with the yardage given away. In some ways it felt like the D got lucky in just allowing those points, but on the other hand unlucky for not getting a pick or three.
Holland is my pick. Title: Re: Game Balls - vs. Bills Post by: EDGECRUSHER on September 26, 2022, 08:13:25 am Tough game to find a single player to give the Game Ball to. While they did drop a lot of INTs and whatnot, the end result was still fantastic. So, they just made it harder for themselves and make their performance even more impressive. They will be exhausted for this Thursday game so I hope McDaniel barely has them practice. So, they just made it harder for themselves and make their performance even more impressive. Lot's of ice baths. Good thing for us their DBs are not very good and I think Waddle and Hill should recover just fine. The biggest issue for us will be our defense and getting to Joe Burrow. Hopefully some early success will help them out. They will be exhausted for this Thursday game so I hope McDaniel barely has them practice. I have to agree with Stroke about Jevon Holland. Guy had another great game and seemed to be the standout. Wish he could have pulled in that interception but dude was balling all game. Honorable mention to a guy who may not get much press but our punter, Thomas Morstead, who booted a spectacular 74 yard punt after the butt punt to help our defense in sealing the victory. Kickers don't get enough respect, especially punters. A bad punt by him instead of the 74 yarder and we might lose the game. That won't show up in a box score but it's huge. Title: Re: Game Balls - vs. Bills Post by: DZA on September 26, 2022, 10:16:47 am Well this may be unintentional, But the Punter Thomas Morstead, ;D that safety actually helped.
Title: Re: Game Balls - vs. Bills Post by: Dolfanalyst on September 26, 2022, 10:26:12 am Xavien Howard, for limiting Stefon Diggs to a roughly average game by his standards. Scoring just 21 points, that's about the only way you have a shot against Buffalo. If Diggs erupts like he did the previous two weeks the Bills very likely score a good bit more and the Dolphins very likely lose.

If that ball stayed closer to inbounds by just a few feet, we're down by 3 and would be called the LOLphins. Title: Re: Game Balls - vs. Bills Post by: Dave Gray on September 26, 2022, 10:59:21 am I still don't think the safety helped. Bills would've needed a TD. The players were really gassed. In a weird way, having 40 minutes of possession ended up hurting them. They couldn't execute and run. They were falling down. It would've been no easy task to make big plays down the field.

It looked like we were mixing it up and having others guys cover him too. Title: Re: Game Balls - vs. Bills Post by: masterfins on September 26, 2022, 03:27:27 pm Jevon Holland - forced fumble that led to the easy TD, and two great passes defensed in the 4th qtr.
HM's - Edmonds, Waddle, Tua, Howard, and really the whole defense - they spent a lot of time on the field and though they gave up a lot of yards they held on and limited the points. |
