Title: Another possible Covid lesson
Post by: dolphins4life on February 21, 2023, 02:42:30 pm
Some hospitals were overwhelmed.   Others were fully empty.  Why weren't people who didn't have Covid but couldn't get treatment because of Covid patients sent to the empty hospitals?

I think they were....but you're not going to be shipping hundreds of people to different states to treat various forms of flu symptoms.  I don't think it was feasible.

That's not what I was referring to.  I'm talking about people who needed non-covid medical treatment.  Why weren't they sent to the empty hospitals?

Where were the empty hospitals and where were the full? That answers your question.

No, it does not.

I'll try to answer one possible explanation.

Let's say you're going to get some kind of surgery for an ongoing issue you're having.....like when I had my kidney stones.

There's a process.  It takes months.  I have visited the doctor multiple times, went through tests, prepped, etc.  That all runs through the local hospital where the doctor works.  They can't just move my surgery to Tampa on a whim.  My doctor isn't there.  I have a relationship and schedule planned for months in the current hospital, that has my records and more importantly, it's where the doctor works.

No, it does not.

How far do you plan to ship patients? Outbreaks were localized. Don't pretend shipping a patient 100 miles is feasible for most instances. You work in healthcare you say. Don't bring up bullshit ideas you know are logistically impractical.

I mean, let's say there are two hospitals in a city.

One hospital is overrun with covid patients, the other is completely empty.

A patient who needs non-covid related treatment goes to the overrun hospital.

Why can't they tell him to go to the empty hospital?

Is there any evidence that this happened?  If one hospital is overrun with COVID, I imagine the other in the same city would be, as well.

But I also answered your question -- you don't just show up day-of to do surgery.  That stuff is planned and scheduled months in advance with not just a doctor, but a specific team of people all in one previously planned location.

Prove it and account for location and population density differences.

Prove it and account for location and population density differences.

One person on youtube said, "I delivered food to multiple hospitals during the lockdown and every single one of them was completely empty"

Other reports indicated that people were denied access to treatment because of Covid patients filling up the rooms.

That is the very best I can do.

One person on YouTube and other reports of people somewhere in the world. I'm sorry, this is done.
