FPL offers an energy survey where (I think the process is) they come to your house and tell you about your energy usage.  I think they probably inspect devices, check windows, look at the age of stuff.

And I'm sure it's just an excuse to sell you stuff or upgrade your bill somehow. 

But I'm curious about it.  I think it's free for the inspection, but I want to speak to someone who has done it.

My sister did the massachusetts version of this. They told her where she was wasting energy.  They replaced all of her lightbulbs for free.  They gave her a very good price on new windows but she didn't do that.  And they replaced her 25 year old fridge for much less than what it would have cost thru home depot. 

I started the process, but the system said that my account type wasn't eligible.  Since I have solar panels, maybe that's part of it.

I know I can benefit from better windows.  But my A/C is new, my fridge is new, and I have improved my insulation and seals.  I'm probably not a great candidate, but I was curious.

I'm willing to do it - for the sake of science...  As long as I don't get scammed into signing up for shit I don't want.

You read the fine print, and you can use my house as a test vehicle.

I expect they will just tell you things you should already know.

I had an energy survey after i signed up for solar panels, the company came out, ran a few tests on efficiency, then they added insulation in my basement, around a window and insulated my hot water pipes in the basement.

before the visit, my rating was 8/10 after it was 9/10 as far as efficiency

Is it something you paid for?

no, not directly .. i'm assuming it's included in the cost of the solar install, or possibly a program funded by the electric company to encourage solar adoption
