Title: I think they need to trade Waddle to boost the defense
Post by: dolphins4life on October 01, 2023, 05:14:22 pm
If Miami is going to reach the playoffs this year, they can't do it with the defense they have.  They need to do something to improve it.  The key is the pass rush.

Maybe. I was against this before I but we need to trade waddle and a pick for pressure and a secondary help.

We got a good amount of talent on defense, they just aren't performing so far. I'm hoping today is a wakeup call but unless we can trade for Lawrence Taylor in his prime, no way we dump Waddle. We should load up even more on offense if the defense isn't going to contribute this season.

The Dolphins are already spending an incredible amount of money on the defensive side of the ball, between X, Chubb, and Ramsey.  Sieler just got paid and Wilkins is about to do so (in Miami or elsewhere).

At some point your existing players need to get the job done.  Holland, Phillips, and Kohou are all still on team-friendly deals.  MIA just dropped huge bucks on a top DC.  As we saw today, the offense is not so unstoppably potent that Grier can start raiding that side of the ball to try to shore up the D.  Armstead will just never be healthy - it is what it is by now - but in week 18 at Miami, Ramsey should be back.  At that point we should know the ceiling of this defense.

We just lost out first game of the season to the team that was predicted to win the East and challenge KC for the AFC title. All is not lost. Go hug your Brady pillow and relax. No need to scrap a valuable offensive weapon.

The passing game output will drop off if Waddle is traded.  He runs a lot of good underneath routes and also takes out defenders in the area so Hill can get a lot of YACs

I couldn't have put it better.
