Title: Re: Shame of the game - Seahawks Post by: Garrett on September 23, 2024, 12:00:27 am McDaniel. His play calling has been horrible. When Tua was there, he was calling tons of screen passes, that weren't going anywhere. This game, the running game was working, and he kept trying to pass, with a horrible QB. The defense played great under the circumstances. He let the team down. Thompson looked completely unprepared to run the offense. Way too much time getting out of the huddle as well.
Title: Re: Shame of the game - Seahawks Post by: Downunder Dolphan on September 23, 2024, 06:37:42 am From the NFL highlights package (which wasn't much) and other commentary:
McDaniel. Too many penalties from a side that looked unprepared. Achane seemed to be playing well, but we didn't use him enough. Terrible play calling. Our OL sucks. Jackson has regressed since he got his fat contract and Hunt who was next to him (who was a better lineman) left for more money because we're broke. Brewer is a terrible center. With Armstead out with Despite the positive comments about our defense, it's pretty clear our zone coverage still sucks. Passes to wide open TE still move the chains. Remember when we changed DCs and were told that Ramsey would get the #1 receiver all game? That's two weeks in a row we've been burned for TDs by Diggs and now Metcalf when he's not allocated to them for the play. This team is a mess. Ps. How the fuck does Crossman still have a job after this game? When are they going to wake up that he's a bigger problem than the special teams players he's coaching? Title: Re: Shame of the game - Seahawks Post by: Dave Gray on September 23, 2024, 09:16:41 am It's Thompson.
He doesn't make decisions with the speed required. He's in the backfield triple-pumping. I understand that he isn't our starter, but he needs to be able to come in and at least run the offense and he was unable. There's probably a reason for it, but why did Thompson have two chances at a hail mary and didn't actually throw the ball either time? Title: Re: Shame of the game - Seahawks Post by: Sibster on September 23, 2024, 09:24:19 am I'm giving my Shame of the Game to Tua. Here's why. If he wasn't such a dumbass and had played safe against Buffalo, he never gets hurt, he never goes into the concussion protocol, and he plays yesterday. The Dolphins win this game easily with him in there.
The next three weeks are going to suck for this offense with no QB. Title: Re: Shame of the game - Seahawks Post by: Dave Gray on September 23, 2024, 09:57:50 am One more thing about Thompson:
He sucked, but he really didn't get help. When your backup QB is in, other guys gotta step up to keep momentum. We were missing kicks, couldn't tackle early, dropping bubble screens, etc. I don't really understand blaming McDaniel for any of this. Thompson didn't have the tools to do the job, it seemed. Title: Re: Shame of the game - Seahawks Post by: Phishfan on September 23, 2024, 02:33:15 pm McDaniel for the overall lack of preparation. I think this team had three illegal formation penalties. If you can't even line up to start a play that is the basics.

Idiotic playcalling and play design doesn't help either - take a look at his second last play where he got destroyed (and most likely got the rib injury) and tell me how that isn't a QB killer, no matter who is under center? So we're at 3rd and 2, line up in the I-formation with an additional TE (Hill?). After the snap, both backs and the TE all break away for the pass and leave Thompson wide open for the blitzing linebacker who breezes right past a locked-up Eichenberg. Ingold throws a downfield block, Achane is covered until it's too late, as are both WRs. The only one possibly free is the TE (you can't tell because the safety is deep and out of frame, but he could well have been accounted for too) who is still running downfield for a deep pass with no intention to break back in time. Ideally Skyler should have the ball away by frame three, but if the TE is covered that's possibly a pick six - if the TE hooked back instead of going deep, it should have made for an easy, open target for a first down and move the chains. By frame four it's all too late anyway, Thompson is toast (just two seconds after the snap). If McDaniel calls this stupid play again when Tua is back, it will be a guaranteed concussion for the rest of Tua's career (which will finish right after that same play).
