I will never not be mad about losing him. Like Sieler, he was one of the best player per salaries we've ever had and Grier didn't even try to keep him. He expressed wanting to stay so it was a very weird situation.  

Yep. He was one of the ones we grew in our rebuild, developed here, and then threw away for nothing, while bringing in heartless mercenaries for the offers of big $$$ and low tax incentives.

He had 5 years to show something in Miami and didn't get it done, which is why MIA had to trade for Chubb.

Good for him in doing well for himself, but I'm not any angrier about him leaving than I am about Igbo, Holland, or Brandon Jones.

If players that leave the franchise tend to improve at their new franchise and those who arrive tend to show a decline in performance, maybe the issue isn't the players. 

If they suck here and suck elsewhere, or if you can't afford to keep them after their rookie contract, then the GM is to blame.

If they suck here and flourish elsewhere, then the coaches are to blame.

And it seems that no matter which coaching regime we have, players pass through here, suck, then star on another team.

This is one of those cases where I'm legitimately happy for him.  He came in when we needed him, performed great, we weren't in a position to pay a backup player like that, and he was able to springboard the success for another team who isn't our competition.  Good for him.

Not sure what you were watching or if you were even paying attention. All he did was make plays when given the chance. He and Sieler stayed under the coaches radar for years while people like Joe Rose and some of the writers were pointing out how they warranted more playing time. His final year in Miami he had

69 Combo tackles
27 Assists
6.0 Sacks
2 Interceptions
1 TD


Not too shabby for a guy who was a part time player.

His "final year" can also be phrased as "the year after MIA traded for Bradley Chubb because AVG had compiled 10 sacks and 1 INT in 56 games (31 of which he started)."

AVG had 5 years to prove himself in Miami and he failed to do so.  He played well for a little more than half of his final season here; a season which he finished on IR.

He sucked under Brian Flores in MIA but played well under Brian Flores in MIN.  Who gets the credit/blame?
