Title: Ramsey, Jonnu, and Minkah Fitzpatrick swap Post by: CF DolFan on June 30, 2025, 11:08:11 am Hard to keep up but we are sending Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith to Pitt and they are giving us back Minkah Fitzpatrick. LOL ... Interested in hearing the details.
The Miami Dolphins have traded Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Ramsey will get a $1.5 million raise as part of the deal, boosting his salary to $26.6 million in 2025. That wasn't the only deal the two teams made on Monday, however. Schefter also reported the Dolphins traded tight end Jonnu Smith to the Steelers for a late-round pick swap, with Smith getting a one-year, $12 million contract extension in the deal. for Fitzpatrick and a 5th Title: Re: Ramsey, Jonnu, and Minkah Fitzpatrick swap Post by: Pappy13 on June 30, 2025, 01:25:17 pm I'm surprised PIT let Minkah go, and also that he's willing (?) to come back to Miami. It's all about the money. Minkah probably getting a raise from Miami. Kinda makes me want to vomit, not because I don't like Minkah, I always have, but I hate that players are just hired guns these days and really don't give a shit about the team they play for or even remember for that matter. So is that the last of the guys playing for a paycheck or is there someone else? Title: Re: Ramsey, Jonnu, and Minkah Fitzpatrick swap Post by: masterfins on June 30, 2025, 03:49:37 pm So Miami has traded two currently disgruntled players and received one former disgruntled player in exchange. My only question is why didn't Miami also send Hill to the Steelers in the deal?

Title: Re: Ramsey, Jonnu, and Minkah Fitzpatrick swap Post by: Downunder Dolphan on June 30, 2025, 10:28:13 pm Ramsey, Smith and a 7th for Fitzpatrick and a 5th I guess this makes a bit more sense if it means that ALL of Ramsey's salary is off the Miami books from 2026 onward (so no dead cap money hit like X). Neither of Ramsey and Smith attended any of the workouts to date, so they're already way behind where they should be - it's better to make this move now and get it out of the way. We know what we lost in Fitzpatrick, and what's coming back - an intelligent, natural leader who's played at an All-Pro level, and we desperately need that coming into the team. It sucks that we lost some of his best years to Pittsburgh (thanks Flores), but at least he's still on the right side of 30. The other question has to be, why Minkah and not one of the Steelers corners, since they are now stacked at the position? Maybe they wouldn't deal them, maybe we couldn't afford it? The other possible reason may be related to playing the dangerous game of relying on our pass rush to compensate for the lack of corner depth (as has been mentioned elsewhere). Despite Grier previously saying he thought we already had our starters at Safety before the draft - maybe that has changed because we need a reliable, proven deep cover guy if that doesn't go to plan? We can't afford the cap hit this season. At the end of 2025 Tyreek will be outta here though, as there are no guarantees left on his contract, and we can get out with no dead money cap hits from 2026. That said, if we were out of contention mid-season and another team came up with a really silly offer to trade him (like a 1st rounder)... I wouldn't be surprised if we bit on it. Now that Flores is gone, I'm sure he'd be willing to come back. Watch his play get worse though as the lure of South Beach sucks him in. |
