I didn't watch the game and was only really interested to see if his girlfriend was a continuing distraction. Apparently so. She was all over the tv from what I heard.

I could be wrong but I think they only showed her twice. Either way, Bill looked miserable (more than usual) on the sidelines so it made it fun to watch!

Great to see him miserable and out of his element on the sidelines.   It's clear to me that UNC did this to sell tickets as football is a secondary sport for that school.

Here's an interesting question.   Bill Belichick is the second coach to become a college head coach after winning a Super Bowl.   Who was the first?  (Hint, his name is also Bill)

I don't want him to do too bad at NC. I don't want him to be fired and come back to the NFL for example. I want Shula to maintain his status as winningest NFL head coach.

I think he's done in the NFL. No team was jumping for him before.  This is his last stop.

If Belichick gets fired for losing too much at UNC, there is zero chance he gets hired again as an NFL head coach.

His only path back to the NFL is the same one Pete Carroll took: dominance at the college level.  So you should actively hope he does terrible at UNC.

He was a shit coach before and after Tom Brady.   And he is 73.   He doesn't have much time left.

I saw Bill being very candid when asked about why he doesn't let Patriots staff in the building at UNC.  It was something along the lines of "It's pretty simple: They don't want me there, so there's not welcome here."  Damn.

That sounds like Dan Snyder saying that he doesn't allow NFL league management to enter his businesses, or Kanye West saying that he doesn't allow Taylor Swift to come into his house.
Why would they want to?

Pete Carroll had a horrible NFL resume, Belichick has a great one.  I doubt he gets another NFL HC gig other than maybe than a team who missed out on all their prime targets giving him a one year interim contract, because he is too old to be anyones long term solution I would not be surprised if his next gig is similar to Parcels role with the fish eaters 

Pete Carroll was 47 when he was fired by NE, and got another chance in the NFL with SEA at age 58.
Bill Belichick was 71 when NE let him go.  He is widely considered to have lost whatever insight he once had.

BBs only liability is his age.  That UNC could win the rest of their games and the national championship and BB  will still have the age issue.  UNC could lose all the rest of their games this season and BB is still the most successful NFL coach in league history.  Only way he coaches in the NFL again is if someone wants a 1-3 year stopgap coach.  Record at UNC is immaterial.

This is fundamentally a "Don Shula, the winningest coach in NFL history, could have been hired to replace Bill Parcells with the Jets in 1999" argument.

I am a person that gives equal credit to both Brady and Belichick for the success of the Patriots; Tom Brady did not put the clamps on the Rams or the Colts.  That being said, Belichick has not shown any ability to succeed as a head coach without a HOF QB.

Belichick could have retired from NE 5 years ago, failed at UNC, and come back to the NFL.  But now, post-Mac Jones?  BB couldn't even get a job with the Falcons, a (current) bottom-feeder that has never won anything.  He would need to win a college playoff game to get another job in the bigs.

You're probably right, but as long as he's there in NC, he's not in the NFL and that's all I care about.

In college, you don't have players signing contracts.   You don't offer them enough NIL money, they will bolt to the transfer portal.   Not to mention that you don't draft players and they are required to play for you.   You have to go out an entice them to come there.

And he would have continued to fail if Bledsoe doesn’t get injured and Brady comes along.
