Title: Fascism
Post by: Dave Gray on September 11, 2025, 12:52:27 pm
I am very worried about America.  I used to be a very vocal poster, but I have chilled in recent years.  I just don't have the energy and everything is so bad every single day that I get worn out, which I guess is the plan.

In my opinion, we are currently living in a fascist dictatorship.  This is not on the horizon or something we should be afraid of.  This is now.  There is no reasonable check on presidential power.

Most of the people I associate with are on the same page, but as I'm sure that you all see, there are others who just think this is business as usual.  I have come to believe that supporters of this authoritarian takeover, either:

1) Like it and want it
2) Don't like it, but think it's going to happen anyway, so they'd rather it be their guy than our guy
or
3) Don't think it's the case

I'm surprised at how fast people have flipped.  The same people that flew a "don't tread on me" flag now seem to be OK with an unchecked executive.  Free traders like illegal tariffs.  Those convinced that a global cabal of pedophile elites are in power have chosen the best friend of America's most famous pedophile to lead them.  The family values people have chosen the most un-Christlike figure to lead them.  The party of American might is now pro-Russia.  The libertarians concerned about government overreach are OK with no due process, with people getting killed without a trial or presenting evidence.

It's fucking crazy where we are.  And it's even crazier that we aren't all up in arms about it.

I don't even know what to do or say about it.  We are here and I feel like we're just sleepwalking through it.

Who says we are not up in arms about it? Not sure what we are supposed to do about it. He won the election fair and square, like it or not. Personally I don't agree with the way elections work and think the electoral college causes more harm than good, but it is what it is.

Just waiting for it to be over and the pendulum swings the other way...and hoping it's not too late.

I'm not up in arms that he's elected.  I'm up in arms that he's breaking the rules to do things that he doesn't have the legal power to do, but isn't getting appropriately checked for it.

Well there's all those that were also fairly elected that are going along with him as well. Other than vote them out when it's time, not sure what else we can do about it.

Every single day is worse.
