Title: Shame of the Game- Browns
Post by: Sibster on October 19, 2025, 04:04:39 pm
Turnover Tua.   Three picks again and only 100 yards passing.   He was yanked for a reason.

I didn't watch the game, went golfing instead, but just the fact I heard he threw 3 ints and was benched means it was Tua.

It wasn't Tua.

It's gotta be McDaniel.  Everything was bad.  We can't stop the run.  We can't pressure the QB.  We can't protect our QB.  We can't run the ball.  We can't tackle.  It's fundamental stuff.  On top of that, special teams sucked.

I feel like I'm defending Tua when I'm not trying to.  One pick his his receiver in both hands.  Another pick was on 3rd and 12 on like his own 4, after we were down like 24 points.  And the third was outright bad, but the game was well out of reach.

I think we may have the worst defense in the league.  We are asking Tua to claw us out of these huge holes and he's just not capable.  Also, our roster sucks.

Sorry Dave, it's gotta be Tua (with a very large dishonorable mention to McDaniel).

He overthrew Achane (with a guy about to crunch his back pushing him further under the pass) which led to the pick six.

Then he badly misread the four man pass rush (huge credit to Jim Schwarz, who I think should be in the mix for mention as our next coach), and shat his jocks when a blitzer he didn't recognize got in his face. Here's the fateful lead up as it occurred after he split Achane wide leaving an empty backfield and no protection from his near blindside for an extra rusher between the RT and RG. Guess what happened next? This was as much about Tua completely misreading the defense before the snap, as the inevitable shitshow that followed.

The last one... yeah that was just a gigantic size turd the size of Disneyland Paris that Tua shat out. Plus he nearly killed Washington with a dump off as well.

If it's not the worst highlights package of Tua I have seen, it's bloody close enough. The credits he banked with me early are gone... but worse still, and more importantly, I think they're gone with the rest of the team.

McDaniel deserves a gigantic scolding too. How good does our rushing game have to be for him to invest in it, and not gamble on YAC, even for a day it doesn't suit it?

On paper our defense seemed a lot better, but still can't tackle when it counts.

This team is a gigantic shitshow. It's official. This season is over. The McDaniel era is over, as well as Tua.

They're zombies - they're dead, they just don't know it yet. Throw in a ghoulish vision of Ross, and it's the perfect unholy trinity for Halloween in 11 days time.

I guess the answer is already there but...

You can keep only one... Tua or McDaniel? Who are you gonna hang?

"now Tua throws an INT from his own endzone

Mike McDaniel literally points to the sideline and tells him to get off the field"

Apparently that's how bad Tua was on that play. It was so shitty that even McDaniel lost his head over it.

At least McDaniel finally came to his senses and yanked Tua.  At this point, what can you do?   Ewers is your backup and you'll have to comb the waiver wire for a veteran.   Not to mention with Tua's huge guaranteed contract, you're stuck with him for at least one more year.

There's no point in bringing in a veteran QB, just play your two backup QB's and see if they have anything (In fact Miami already has a vet QB in Zach Wilson).  Who cares if a vet gets you an extra win or two to have 4 or 5 wins on the season, it just hurts the team in the long run in the draft order.

I would keep McDaniel over Tua if I were starting fresh, but in this particular game, when we had atrocious offense, defense AND special teams, I cannot pin it on one player.

We have no offensive line, our guys drop balls, and we have the worst defense in the league.  So, yeah...QB play isn't good in this game, but it was a complete meltdown in all phases.  The Browns haven't scored this many points in several years and we're just looking past that.

The fact that Ewers got to play over Wilson says a lot about Wilson.   He'll rank up there with Rick Mirer, Mitch Trubisky and Ryan Leaf as QB's drafted #2 overall who turned out to be complete busts.

Sorry but Tua had like a 24 rating, the lowest of any QB in a game all season.  And the reason the Browns scored so many points is because Tua practically had 2 pick 6's.  There is certainly plenty of blame to go around as you said, BUT this was primarily on Tua.

You admitted you didn't watch the game.

The first pick six, we were already getting stomped and the game was pretty much out of reach.  That ball hit Achane on both hands and he popped it up to the defender.
The second "almost pick six" was when the game was already incredibly out of reach and we tried to run the ball twice, so naturally, it was 3rd and 12 from inside the 5 and we were forcing the ball because we absolutely couldn't punt.  Not good, not acceptable, but the game was already over.

I'm not even arguing in favor of Tua.  I'm arguing against everyone else also.  The problems are higher up the pyramid that the play of the QB.

I hear you on the problems being widespread - I've been preaching that for weeks.

But there's no escaping that Tua had a spectacularly bad game. This analysis of his picks are pretty damning (including the first for a pick six)

His game has certainly regressed this season, the big questions are why, and can they be fixed?
