Title: Pennies Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on November 15, 2025, 04:55:29 pm It is rare that Trump does something I agree with. Getting rid of the penny is one of those times. Actually I would like to see the nickel go too. And then either replace the quarter with a 20 cent piece and make one tenth of a dollar be the smallest denomination -or- get rid of the dime and make one fourth of a dollar the smallest denomination.

It's about time they got rid of the penny. Now they need to get rid of the dollar bill and replace it with a coin (well they already have the Sacagawea dollar coin), replace the $1 bill in the cash drawers with the $2 Bill. They need to resize the nickel so it doesn't cost so much to produce. He charges the exact amount for credit card sales but rounds down for cash sales. This means that for 80% of his customers they can save between 1¢ and 4¢ by paying cash. This has resulted in 60% of sales being cash up from 4%. As the average credit card purchase costs him on average $3.21 in fees he absolutely does not mind when a customer games the system to save up to 4¢.

I rarely use cash these days and its typically only at events like Bike Week or something and it's typically even dollars. Title: Re: Pennies Post by: Phishfan on November 24, 2025, 03:28:03 pm When do you think we will actually start seeing the effects? Pennies aren't out of circulation yet. I just wonder when we will start noticing it in effect.

This ..and I usually just tell them to keep the change when there is any, so I don't have to carry coinage around. The penny has seen a lot of things but it never saw the Miami Hurricanes win an ACC championship.

The US penny has been around since the 1800s right? I'm a bit drunk right now, but I don't get it. You're in Australia so you probably don't follow college football in the U.S. The three main college football programs in Florida are the Miami Hurricanes, Florida State Seminoles and Florida Gators. All three are bitter rivals of each other. |
