Title: Receipt scanning Post by: Sibster on February 10, 2026, 09:07:41 am My wife has three different apps that she scans receipts on for points. Get enough points and you can cash them in for gift cards. Last night, she was at Wally World getting groceries and she saw another receipt in a cart. She immediately grabbed it and scanned it for the points on all three apps, then threw it away. Then shopped and did the same thing with her own receipt.
Do you guys think that's the wrong thing to do? I certainly do. Title: Re: Receipt scanning Post by: CF DolFan on February 10, 2026, 09:22:42 am The worldly view would be it isn't hurting anyone so go ahead and do it. The Biblical view would be more in line with you are taking credit for someone else without their permission ... which is stealing in a sense. It really depends on how you want to look at it.
We actually go to dinner quite often with some long time friends and she scans too. I've offered to give her ours as well but she won't take it. Title: Re: Receipt scanning Post by: Dave Gray on February 10, 2026, 10:36:51 am Nope. Completely legit. Good for her.
Title: Re: Receipt scanning Post by: Sunstroke on February 10, 2026, 10:58:45 am I say she is smart for maximizing what she saves... Heck, depending on how much you save with those gift cards, I might look for other "discarded" receipts when the opportunity allows. Heck, depending on how much you save with those gift cards, I might look for other "discarded" receipts when the opportunity allows. It takes a lot to get a gift card, but over time, they can add up. Especially if you buy items they are offering bonus points on. But we aren't doing any of that this month. |
