Title: Aikman to continue working for the Dolphins Post by: Pappy13 on March 16, 2026, 04:27:42 pm This might be the best news that I've heard. I really like Aikman as a person. He used to have a weekly spot with the Ticket, a DFW sports talk show and I always found his insights to be original and thought provoking, not just cliches and stuff. Can't help but have another person who actually understands football in the front office. I love Marino, but really don't have any idea what he's like. Maybe you folks in Miami can provide some background on Marino and what he's like as a person, not as a player.

Or it can be a bad thing. More insight can be beneficial but can also lead to infighting and politics.
As for Aikman vs Marino just based om their on air commentary, I feel Aikman has a better football understanding. Marino had a phenomenal arm, but he never struck me as someone who had a next level understanding of the game. Marino won games by having a great arm not by being a master tactician. Title: Re: Aikman to continue working for the Dolphins Post by: CF DolFan on March 17, 2026, 10:01:35 am It's hard to say what he is actually doing. Hoch and Crowder were joking around yesterday and were wondering if Ross even knew Aikman was still working for them. They said the Dolphins must have just kept sending him monthly checks so Troy felt he was still working for them. Hahaha
I like Troy and trust his judgement as an outsider. It's really hard to say what Marino does except for being Ross' eyes and ears around the team. He also sits with the owners and Tom Garfinkel in the box each week. He's the one person Joe Rose keeps quiet about in the organization unless it's talking about his game. I've never heard Marino say anything that wasn't supportive to the team, while Aikman kind of keeps it real. I mean, we have him to thank for Mike being let go after Ross had decided to keep him. Hopefully he is the "no" man that Ross desperately needs. |
