Title: Vrabel controversy Post by: Dave Gray on April 24, 2026, 02:36:50 pm I've been so out of it lately, that I had no idea this was a thing until a friend brought it up to me yesterday.
So, I think they've been trickling the truth -- lying about each step and only admitting what was discovered, as more and more is discovered. I heard that Vrabel missed some of the draft prep. And that she had to step down. I can't imagine that this would cost him his job, no matter how bad it got (not that it should). But I wonder what everyone's thoughts on this are. Title: Re: Vrabel controversy Post by: Pappy13 on April 24, 2026, 03:39:43 pm I don't think it will cost him his job, but it may have cost him his marriage. Based on what I've heard though, the marriage was a sham anyway. Him stepping away from the team seems to be an attempt to save his marriage, not his job.

Title: Re: Vrabel controversy Post by: Spider-Dan on April 24, 2026, 06:15:34 pm The most messed-up part of it I've heard so far is:
1) There are pics from 2020 of Russini and Vrabel kissing in a bar 2) Russini got married later in 2020 3) She gave birth to a boy in 2021 that she named "Michael" 4) This tweet: (https://preview.redd.it/dianna-russini-keep-looking-at-my-almost-4-day-old-son-v0-9v7qzqfdbzwg1.jpeg?width=1080&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=991ec02475378c3c3ce78b6fbd99a4a9deabe15c) Title: Re: Vrabel controversy Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on April 24, 2026, 06:26:09 pm I don't see this as a football issue. I see this as a Mike and Jen issue. He isn't the first NEP head coach to cheat on his wife. No Patriots fan ever suggested BB being fired for his marriage infidelity.
I don't see this directly costing him his job. If NE has a losing record this year, I could see his inability to remain focused on the job thru a self-created distraction being cited as a reason for his firing, but if the NEP wins the division again, he will be praised for his ability to remained focused thru the distraction. Most massage parlors will allow you to upgrade from a rub-and-tug to a yank-and-spank for an extra $50... Title: Re: Vrabel controversy Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on April 24, 2026, 07:38:08 pm This is as relevant as Dan Marino and Troy Aikman's martial issues.
Title: Re: Vrabel controversy Post by: Spider-Dan on April 24, 2026, 08:03:36 pm This is as relevant as Dan Marino and Troy Aikman's martial issues. I presume you are referring to the marital issues they had after they had already been retired from the league for over a decade. The appropriate analogy would be if Mike Vrabel had never went into coaching after retiring as a player in 2011, and if that had happened, I assure you that no one would care about his extramarital affairs today. Troy Aikman is a consultant for the Dolphins. Title: Re: Vrabel controversy Post by: Pappy13 on April 24, 2026, 08:31:02 pm I don't know how it is a sham as he has been married to her since 99. And apparently has been cheating on her since 2020 at least.Title: Re: Vrabel controversy Post by: Spider-Dan on April 24, 2026, 08:58:08 pm Troy Aikman is a consultant for the Dolphins. Troy Aikman was not employed by the Dolphins in 2011 or 2023 when either of his divorces became public, so this comparison is still inapplicable. If you really want to find a more reasonable recent analogy to this situation, I suggest Bill Belichick. It only becomes a football issue if it detracts from team operations. If this was revealed mid-season it may have cost him his job; off season it just reveals he's a scumbag. |
