Title: Top Ten Thrill Rides at Universal Orlando Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on January 30, 2006, 11:07:17 pm This will include rides from both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure:
1. The Incredible Hulk Coaster- No time to worry about slowly going up the incline on this one. The "laser beam" shoots you out, and you immedately do the equivalent of a barrel roll. This ride is loaded with twists, turns, and loops. 2. Dueling Dragons- Pick your poison.... Fire or Ice. Just like The Hulk, these roller coasters have lots of twists, turns, and loops. The difference is the cars are set with your feet hanging, and at one point, it looks as if the coasters are going to crash into each other, then turn up at the last second. For a real thrill on that, try sitting close to the front.  The Fire coaster is a little bit faster, but the Ice coaster has more loops. 3. Revenge of the Mummy- It starts off as an expedition through an ancient Egyptian pyramid, then, suddenly, the 1000 year curse comes alive!!! Just like The Hulk, there is no slow climbing the hill. This roller coaster does not go upside down, but is one of the fastest in the country and plunges you through darkness as you escape the curse. 4. Dr. Doom's Free Fall- Compares to Disney's Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, except the ride shoots you up just as fast as it drops you, and you are in broad daylight. Hold on tight on this one, or expect your butt to come flying out of the seat. 5. Spider Man 3D- Not truly a roller coaster, but a great simulated ride. You ride through the streets of New York on a night where all of Spider Man's enemies come out to play. The final part is amazing, making you feel as if you are really falling 40 stories!!! 6. Dudley-Do Right's Ripsaw Falls- Similar to Disney's Splash Mountain, this takes you back to 1920's Canada. The big drop is not as long, but bring an extra change of clothes, as this ride will soak you from head to foot. 7. Men in Black Alien Attack- Roll onto the streets of New York, as what appears to be a traning exercise becomes a full scale combat against alien invasion. Rack up as many points as you can by shooting aliens that appear from all directions. 8. Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Barge- Like Ripsaw Falls, bring a change of clothes, or take off whatever you can and store it in the coverage area in the center of your large gondola. Once the ride starts, your gondola is pretty much at the mercy of the rushing water, and anyone is fair game when it comes to soaking. A way to have fun on this ride is to see who gets soaked the most and the least. 9. Jurassic Park River Adventure- Another ride similar to Ripsaw Falls and Splash Mountain. This rude takes you on a journey through a beautiful prehistoric land, then suddenly your boat gets knocked off course into a restricted dinosaur lab!!! The chaos that ensues culminates with a long drop, but this ride doesn't get you even half as wet as Ripsaw Falls. A good ride for people who want to stay a little dry. 10. Back To The Future- This one has been around for a while but has maintained its popularity. Biff has stolen Doc Brown's time machine, then locked Doc in his lab. Ride Doc's new 8 passenger Delorian as the object is to accellerate up to 88 miles per hour and bump Biff, sending both cars back to 1985. Title: Re: Top Ten Thrill Rides at Universal Orlando Post by: pintofguinness14 on January 31, 2006, 07:50:34 am I'm a big fan of the dueling dragons, however, I recommend NOT having beers at the pub across from the ride prior to climbing aboard.

I may not like your taste in college football teams, but I must agree with your list of Universal rides. (I'd move Men in Black up a few slots because of its "replayability", but I can't argue with Hulk and Dueling Dragons on the top) Title: Re: Top Ten Thrill Rides at Universal Orlando Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on January 31, 2006, 01:45:34 pm I'm a big fan of the dueling dragons, however, I recommend NOT having beers at the pub across from the ride prior to climbing aboard. By the way, if you can spare the extra cash, purchase an Express Pass when going to Universal. Those passes will allow you to skip the regular lines, thereby waiting less than 10-15 minutes usually for the popular rides and almost no wait for the not-as-popular. Those passes are SO worth it. Title: Re: Top Ten Thrill Rides at Universal Orlando Post by: Dave Gray on January 31, 2006, 03:23:34 pm I hate the idea of express passes at theme parks. I know it's idealistic of me, but I liked the fact that at Disney (or wherever), you paid the admission, and then you were their guest for the day. You could do it all, and everyone there was the VIP. It seems like it cheapens the experience to have richer people pay to wait less.
In terms of coasters, I think that the Hulk is the best ride in Florida. Title: Re: Top Ten Thrill Rides at Universal Orlando Post by: Fau Teixeira on January 31, 2006, 03:47:08 pm i'm a big fan of both the spider man ride in IoA and of the montu at busch gardens
