got word from some of my comrads in the blue jays messageboard and somebody informed me that 700,000 tickets have been sold so far for the blue jays, not to mention 40,000 for opening day. Im trying to get a link from this confirming it but i just wanted to inform you about this. http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=ml-bluejays&msg=24410.1 this is where the person told me it. well not me directly but everyone on the mb including me

T-Jays almost always sell out opening day, that day is a good one more 99% of the majors (except Kansas City and Tampa).  Jays brought in names designed specifcally to fill the seats; the old "spend money to make it."  You're probably too young to remember, but ten or so years ago Toronto lead the league in attendance for five seasons in a row.  No reason why it couldn't happen again.

Every year you get clunkers like this one.  Boston also got beat 19-3 once last year.

Don't forget that Boston has TWO 17-1 beatings over the Yankees in 2005. NY won the season series, but needless to say the runs scored/runs against numbers were a bit out of whack.

God bless Tim Redding.

didn't we have a game on espn where we scored 9 runs on the yankees in one inning. i think we did. I remember we scored them all with one out.

All while finishing 15 games back, behind Boston and New York.  You're my boy and all, Raptor...but the rah rah Blue Jays "panic in the streets in Boston and New York" stuff gets a little tired after a while.  Until the Jays prove it on the field, and more than the random 9-1 wins over a quality team, I'm not buying what Toronto is selling.

By the way, if we're playing this game:

April 20, 2005:  Yankees 11, Toronto 2
April 22, 2005:  Baltimore 13, Toronto 5
June 5, 2005:   Oakland 12, Toronto 4
August 21, 2005:  Detroit 17, Toronto 6

It's not like Toronto wasn't on the end of those occasional out of control games themselves last year...on their way to a sub .500 season at 80-82.  You can have the occasional ass drubbings.  I'll take the 95 win seasons.
