Title: My own personal rant Post by: Phishfan on February 11, 2006, 10:11:27 am So after a long night, in which I fell asleep in a recliner, I have to go into work this morning. I'm not very happy about this already. Since it is Saturday and the highway is not going to be busy, I decide to take a different route. To describe the road I am driving on, it's two lanes with sewer work being done on one side. After you pass the work zone the road opens up. There is a bike trail on one side and a sidewalk on the other.
The point of my rant, I hate bicyclists. They have a trail designated for them, but I have to cross the center line twice because there are two seperate packs (at least four each) riding in the street. Not only are they not using the bike trail, but they are riding down the road in pairs instead of in a single line. Back to work. They messed up traffic something awful. The mess would have been worth it if one of them had been run down. Sadly, they all survived.
GET A CAR OR GET OUT OF THE ROAD! Title: Re: My own personal rant Post by: Sunstroke on February 11, 2006, 03:11:01 pm I am an every-day cyclist, but this is also one of my pet peeves when I drive. If there is a bike lane or a bike path, or even a pedestrian-light sidewalk available, use it. If not, duct-tape a bumper and airbags on your mountain bike and take your chances with the rest of the cars out there...suckers!
I am fortunate that, in south FL in general, and my particular commute in particular, there are almost always bike lanes available so those of us with a speed jones can make proper time on our trip. If not, the sidewalks between Pompano and Boca are relatively clear of blue-haired speedbumps...most of the time. >:D |
