Title: Why "congrads"? Post by: pintofguinness14 on February 11, 2006, 01:09:24 pm I've noticed several times on this board that people abbreviate congratulations with "congrads." There is no "d" in congratulations. Why not "congrats"?
Sorry, this has been bugging me for a little while. Thanks for humoring my grammatical insanity. Title: Re: Why "congrads"? Post by: Phishfan on February 11, 2006, 01:24:42 pm I had not noticed previously, but immediately noticed you did it and it bugged me a little. Then I saw what you were doing.

Post by: Sunstroke on February 11, 2006, 03:02:01 pm I'm all about the congrat's (or congrats if I'm lazy) ...though I usually keep my overly-anal copy editor persona under house arrest while I'm on these boards. :-\ Title: Re: Why "congrads"? There is no "e" in ridiculous. (http://venomweb.150m.com/forum/grammarnazi.gif) Title: Re: Why "congrads"? Post by: Buddhagirl on February 13, 2006, 07:09:08 am I hate when people use your when they should use you're. That's my biggest pet peeve. Grrrrr....

I see a lot of people using the possesive " 's " when only the standard plural " s " is needed. For example. There are my CDs. There are my CD's cases. Title: Re: Why "congrads"? Post by: run_to_win on February 13, 2006, 01:04:06 pm NUCLEAR Even that doesn't quite get the point across as the "clear" in nu-cle-ar (new klee er) is two syllables while the word clear is just one syllable. not NUCULAR |
