I know that I'm pretty much the only one on here who regularly rates movies, but it got me thinking -- do you know anyone who likes pretty much all the same films that you do?  ...or has completely the opposite style?

My friend Ebon has really close tastes to me.  I think that UK_Dolfan and I usually agree.

Brian and I usually are way off.

...and I find that the movies that I LOVE, Fausto likes.  ...and the ones he LOVES, I like.  We usually hate the same stuff.

There are other people I know that are all over the map.  ...they'll like one movie, and hate another that is the same kind of thing.

As for people on this site that I've met, I think that alk3h0l and ....someone else...can't remember -- likes the same kind of stuff I do.

I think it was Cyan,that you guy's had the same taste in movies....

I imagine AZ fin fan and i probably like alot of the same movies(we like a couple of the same Genres),I tend to agree with Brian Fein on alot of movies also.

Brian and I agree on a lot of things, but he seems to like "bang bang blow em up " movies as Dave put it once.

I really don't know of anyoen with the same taste as me on the boards. I love comedies, and I kind of like sappy movies. I watched "Elizabethtown" on my flight back from Mexico and thought it ws a good movie. Most guys would call me a woman for liking it. All I have to say to them, is look at who I go to bed with every night  ;D

I go through phases, but am usually not a blockbuster type of girl.

I really lean towards independents.  They're just better.

My sentiments exactly. The Hollywood blockbuster can be entertaining, but generally they are shallow stories that don't require any thought process to follow.  I like movies that tell an unconventional, compelling, thought-provoking stories, and that’s what you often get with independents.

I Like watching movies over and over again that I really like.  Like JFK, Back to the Future, or Rocky 3.

Actually, I've watched Ghostbusters the last 3 nights in a row.  Can't get enough Dr. Venkman! :)

I think Guatarrican and I have very similar tastes in movies. We both like a good scare!  ;D

Most people my age love independent movies and old movies; 50's, 60's, 70's and some 80's and can't seem to want to break out of that time period.  Everything that comes out at the theater is a P.O.S. no matter what and have convinced themselves of it for the rest of their lives.   I watch movies to get away from "real" life,  and enjoy myself for a few hours,  which is why I steer far away from Dramas and Independents,  if I want to be bored,  I'll read a book.  Of course that doesn't apply to all movies but a majority (IMO).  

Give me some good action, SciFi, and Comedy.  I don't pick apart movies with flaws,  do a decent job of acting and storytelling and you're ok with me.  

You guys don't have a clue what I like.

I like all types of movies.  I typically won't be convinced to watch a movie unless I see a trailer that makes me think "damn, I gotta see that"  Therefore, independant films can suck it.

I don't necessarily like "blow em up" movies only, although I do appreciate a good action flick.  I like the comedies, and I especially like movies like Ace Ventura, Anchorman, Old School, and Wedding Crashers, with lines that are quotable and are funny outside of the movie.  Like "I love lamp!"  haha

I am not a fan of Science Fiction, like Satr Wars or Starship Troopers or any of that crap.  I normally shy away from blockbusters, like King Kong and War of the Worlds.  I am the only person on earth who hasn't seen any LOTR movies yet, and don't plan to.  My favorite type of movies are the mystery/suspense type, with the big plot twist at the end.  Like Sixth Sense or FlightPlan were good ones. 

I like to think I have diverse tastes in movies, I don't only like car chases and explosions, but I don't want to watch 2 hours of a guy driving around southern california drinking wine.  I have been known to enjoy the romantic comedy and the little teeny-bopper movie as well, but I will deny that all day long.

All that being said, I need to be better about writing reviews.  I am a Blockbuster Online member (way better than Netflix, IMO) but I've been buying alot of movies that I've seen already.  I'm not about to post a review on My Cousin Vinny...

i think sad endings are prefectly acceptable in movies .. i hate the cliche happy ending or the loss but learned something about yourself in the process so it'll all be better type of ending BS that someone like spielberg completely ruined AI with

repeat after me .. robot boy stuck underwater for the rest of eternity fruitlessly begging a statue to make him a boy is a great ending .. aliens giving him everything he wants is not

AI was ruined by my friend (VidKid), when, 10 minutes into the movie when the talking Teddy Bear appeared, he exclaimed (out loud in the movie theater)

"HI! I'm Teddy Ruxpin.  I want to be your friend"

That was it, the movie was pointless after that because it would never come close to topping the entertainment value of that awesome one-liner.

Some of the movies I have really liked include Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs, Natural Born Killers, The Jacket, Memento, etc. Not sure what genre that puts me in (suspense for the most part I guess) but those are the types of movies I dig the most.

My bother and I pretty much are into the same types of movies. The only major difference is I can sit through a chick flick and enjoy it, while he wants to gouge out his eyes. Most of my friends and I agree on a lot of our movie choices but they do like some off the wall shit. My g/f and I tend to agree on most movies as well, although she is not a big movie buff and has not seen near as many movies as I have. I agree with B however, we do seem to agree on a lot of things and not just movies. Something tells me if we lived closer we would hang out quite a bit!!!!!

yeah, dave, i think it was I you were thinking about...Fight Club being my favorite movie as well. also, you listed your favorite movies of the past couple decades, and most of mine were the same as yours, with most of the exceptions going to the years when Takeshi Kitano released a film (1993, 1997, etc).

and i can agree with the sentiment that indie films are better...my favorite independent film of last year was probably Oldboy, with Downfall a close second...both foreign, and both highly unwatched by people here...whichi is unfortunate. it's pretty easy for me to see alot of independent and foreign films too, because i can order what i want at work, and just take it home to watch it without actually having to buy it.
