Title: Movie Review: Rain Man
Post by: GUATARICCAN on February 22, 2006, 03:27:11 pm
Premise: A selfish car dealer (Tom Cruise) finds out his father, whom he had a falling out with, dies. At the reading of the will he discovers that his father left him an old convertible and some rose buses. He finds out his father's estate was left to his austistic brother, Raymond, who he never even knew existed. Pissed off he steals Raymond to try and get his half of the fortune and along the way develops a bond w/ his brother that proves more valuable than the money.

Rating: Great

Beefs: Could Dustin Hoffman being anymore freaking annoying!! If I was T. Cruise, I would have left that nigga on the side of the road or at the god damn airport!! And say what you will about Cruise being a dueche bag, but that boy is a great actor!

i agree, best movie of 1988. the best line in the movie:

Susanna: You use me, you use Raymond, you use everybody.
Charlie: Using Raymond? Hey Raymond, am I using you? Am I using you Raymond?
Raymond: Yeah.
Charlie: Shut up! He is answering a question from a half hour ago!

I love this movie,I can't watch it too much,or I start quoting it too much. Then I catch myslef talking like Dustin Hoffman,in situations that i should be speaking normally.

(I almost didn't put in any stars lower than 3,because if you rate this movie less than 3 stars you're nuts...)

Man, I wish I had Dustin Hoffman's card counting ability in that movie.  You know how rich I would be after a whirlwind tour of Vegas?

I was thinking the exact same thing! I was wondering though was the hooker at the bar working for the Casino? Cause Ray told her about the card counting thing and when he goes back to the bar to meet her, Security is waiting for them. Just curious.

That's exactly what happened.  And it happens all the time in Vegas.  They have hookers and other ladies who flirt with the card counters just to get information out of them.

There's also Private Detective Agencies kinda like the one Lil B is in that are hired by casinos to keep tabs on cheats.  They lump card counters in with them.

You have to remember one thing.... card counting is legal in the United States.  A Supreme Court case ruled that it is legal because it doesn't "alter the nature of the game".  I agree because it is not a form of cheating.... it's simply using mathematical skill to give you a bigger edge in a game of chance.
