Title: v-dub injured
Post by: raptorsfan29 on February 22, 2006, 03:33:56 pm

Pulls quads out 2-3 weeks. nothing serious, should be up and ready by the time the season starts.

20 bucks says maine will say v-dub is injury prone, if he thinks halladay is injury prone he will think everyone who suffers a injury, injury prone.

Raptor - are you THAT disgruntled that ANYTHING negative about the Blue Jays is just someone "hating?"  Do you think I pull this stuff out of thin air?

Roy Halladay - innings pitched / games started

1999:      149.1       18 games started
2000:        67.2       13 games started
2001:       105.1      16 games started
2002:      239.1       34 games started
2003:      266.0       31 games started
2004:      133.0       21 ganes  started
2005:      141.2       19 games started

So - let's be crystal clear about this.

In seven full seasons in the majors, Halladay has pitched TWO full seasons.

That's it.  TWO.

He's spent
******************FIVE********************
seasons nursing injuries and not exceeded 150 innings pitched, much less 200.  When you're pitching 150 innings or less - that isn't missing the occasional start.  That's missing signifigant time.

Sorry that you aren't able to hear anything REAL about your 2006 World Champion Toronto Blue Jays.

Halladay = injury prone.  I guess you wouldn't find that info on your pro-Jays "panic in the streets in Boston" message boards.  Facts - not fairy tales.

you do realize he was used in the bullpen in 1999 right? That could explain the 36 games he was in while only having the 18 games.

he spend most of the time in the minor leagues to get back his confidence. mail a letter to the blue jays front office if you don't believe me.

The only years that he had actual injuries was 2004 and 2005, that 2005 injury was a fluke. I'm guessing you forgot he got hit by a line drive.

With Maine's injury prone theory i can say that matt clement is injury prone, josh beckett is injury prone and your boy curt is injury prone.

I guess he was in the bullpen in 2000?  2001?  2004?

We're not talking about any other pitcher - we're talking about the '06 World Champion Toronto Blue Jays pitching ace, Roy Halladay.

Roy Halladay = injury prone.  Doesn't make any difference to me what so ever if you can't accept the truth.  Keep those rose colored glasses on (you know - the ones that make you see Ted Lilly as a good pitcher).  I'll look at things logically and with facts.

not 2004 but he was in the bullpen in 2000, 2001. if you notice by the stats he has more games then games started and when that happened a intelligent baseball fan can say that they spend some time in the bullpen.

"I guess he was in the bullpen in 2000?  2001?  2004?"

i told you he spend time in the minor league system. It wasn't injury related

Really?  Weird.  See - MLB, who generally keeps pretty good stats, has Halladay down for 19 games and 13 starts in '00 / 21 games started in 2004 against 21 appearances / 19 games started in '05 versus 19 appearances....

Hmmm.

In 2000 - he pitched 73 innings in AAA.  That's a whopping and combined 140 innings.  Do you really want me to dig up the reasons that they sent him to AAA?  Namely a strained rib cage that put him on the DL?  And, by the way, Syracuse has him listed twice that season for two trips to the 15 day -DL.

2001 - he pitched 48 innings between AAA and AA.  Combined with the 105 innings in the majors and that's...YEP, you got it, 149 innings pitched.  Again, shall I list the reasons why AAA and AA only got him for 48 combined innings?  He blew out his hammy in AA while playing for Tennessee.

2004 - injury bug followed him the whole season.

Anything else you need me to shoot down for you?

WHEN healthy - I love Halladay.  He had trouble staying healthy in the minors (which, by the way, is why they tried the whole bullpen thing with him) and he's had two full seasons without injury.

Two.  That's it.

And, because YOU brought it up, Curt Schilling - who is about 97 years older than Halladay - in the same time frame (2000 and on):

2000:      210 innings pitched
2001:      256 innings pitched
2002:      259 innings pitched
2003:      168 innings pitched
2004:      226 innings pitched
2005:        93 innings pitched

Still want to compare those two?

Matt Clement?  Yep, you mentioned him as well.  Soooo...

2000:      205 innings pitched
2001:      169 innings pitched
2002:      205 innings pitched
2003:      201 innings pitched
2004:      181 innings pitched
2005:      191 innings pitched - after taking a line drive off the FACE, not the LEG.

Still want to compare those two?

you forgot josh beckett

Do you enjoy being made to look silly ALL the time?  The easy thing to do would be to compare that injury prone Beckett guy, and all his blisters, to Burnett.  Instead - how about your iron man, Roy Halladay.  You know, the man of steal (I wish I could paid that amount of money to work half the year...that's stealing)!

Seeing that you're huge on the whole "he was in the minors thing" - let's start with 2003, shall we?  The past three seasons.  Halladay should have a huge boost here, he pitched over 220 innings that year alone and it was Beckett's first full season in the bigs.

2003 - 2005 Halladay has 540 innings pitched.

2003 - 2005 Beckett has 476 innings pitched.

WOW - YOU ARE SO RIGHT!  In the past three years, Iron Man Halladay has pitched *****64 more innings***** than that injury prone Blister man, Josh Beckett.  For those of you scoring at home, that's 21 additional innings per year.

Or a whopping THREE starts.

Oh...but wait!  There's more!  See - in 2003 Josh Beckett pitched an additional 42.2 innings in a little thing that I like to call the playoffs.  Something Doc wouldn't know about.  So, let's add that to our three year total, shall we?  It does count after all.

2003-2005= 518.2

A difference of...22 innings.  Or 7.33333 innings per year.

OR - ONE START A YEAR.

There ya go.  Have fun.

Oh - and in case you were wondering about your saviour AJ Burnett?  He's pitched 352 innings in the same time period.

Which is a difference of 166 innings from Beckett.  Josh Beckett looks like the Cal freaking Ripkin Jr. of pitching compared to AJ Burnett.

518 innings pitched to 352.  Yeah, that's close.

Josh Beckett of all people.  Blisters and all.  And he still tosses as much as your Iron Man Ace.

do you like writing all these posts and end up being 100% wrong on almost everything you write. I'm guess thats a yes since it never stops.

Halladay is going to be around for the whole season end of story.

You like halladay when hes healthy? to you hes never been healthy.

That post i think has been the most accuarate one you ever written which is shocking. Calling Becketg injury ptone. wow from a red sox fan thats shockng.

Everything I stated is factual and not dug up on some Blue Jays message board.  I know, I know...the truth is a terrible, awful thing.

I mean, wow.  Tossing out items that really happened (like innings pitched) is far more subjective than:

"Halladay is going to be around for the whole season end of story. "  So sayeth Raptor, so sayeth the flock!

Go to bed Raptor.  You're in over your head.  The thing that kills you is that you know I'm right.

P.S. - Ted Lilly sucks.  But fret not, Raptor...there is panic in the streets of Boston.   ::)  Personally, I'm stocking up on canned goods and water.

Am I the only one that can't wait for the "first place, bitches" post from Raptor after they go 2-1 to start the season?

coming from a guy that last year said Curt Schilling would be a 20 game winner. oh your so right maine. i hope i  become as smart as you  ::)

Curt Schillings sucks too, so what.

P.S hes not going to be the same person you saw in 2004, just FYI. There is a little thing called age that will slow him down. Who cares if he is pitching healthy now. does that mean he will be around long, nope. same thing with halladay.

I know truth hurts but once you realize Curt Schilling is up there in age ,your understand.
