The Ricky situation has "sparked" the weed topic once again.  I just want to get a read on the general weed experience on this board.

i voted i would try it if it ever became legalized .. but not in smoke form, maybe a brownie .. but the whole smoke thing i'm against on it's own.

I enjoyed it at a time. It was a good run. I haven't really smoked for like 3 years, besides an occasional new years puff or something of that nature. Smoking takes too much away from quality drinking time....

Pothead days are over. They were fun, but I have grown up. I prefer drinking as my vice.

I said I may try it someday.  I haven't tried it yet, but I'm not against it.  I guess the anti-drug classes worked on me when I was younger and I figure I've gotten this far without it.

I have tried it, but have never been a smoker.  The high isn't one that I like.

I've smoked it 5 times in my life. It never did anything for me. The last time was in 1999.

UNLESS, it's with Snoop Dogg.  If Snoop Dogg walked his gangster ass up to my house and said "hey jtexizzle, wanna puff 'dis sticky-icky with 'da dawg pound nigga?", then I'd say yes. 

Otherwise, it's completely out of the question.

Once, a co worker brought some spiked brownies to work, but didnt tell me that they were spiked. It took one of them an entire year to finally tell me. ;D

I really like smoking pot. Recently I've been smoking around once a week, but it when it gets hectic with school I don't have as much time. Mostly I like doing it alone or with just one or two friends, and we just listen to music or watch TV or a movie. It's really relaxing and fun, and it doesn't leave me with nasty hangovers like I get when I drink a lot.

Marijuana should definitely be legalized.

I think everything should be legalized.  That way, everyone's happy, and government can get a cut on everything by taxing it.  Simple.

...unless, the government themselves is the reason it's not legalized, because they can make more money by making deals with the drug smugglers that way.  That wouldn't surprise me either.

damn dave, the first thign i was gonna do when i got back from lunch was start a topic about this.  

*****NOTE - i'm gonna try and keep this post unbiased, meaning that i'm not going to touch upon anything having to do with the legality, socioeconomic impacts, or other thigns like that.  i'm just going to tell you what my view on it are...we'll save the PROS/CONS debate for another post ;)

"imma joker, imma smoker, i'm a midnight toker.." funny that song was just on.  i tried it back in HS as many of us have, but never had the opportunity to really smoke a lot...since it was always such a "shady, try and hide it from your parents" kinda thing.  then i was in the air force for a while, after that i was on probation for 3 years, and was getting tested all the time.  only until my sr. year at college was i really able to get a good read on it, and smoke at my leisure.  i used to be a HUGE drinker, and i was growing old of the college "drink till you pass out" routine; i decided it was time to "grow up".  i can't stand the people who say alcohol is more grown-up than weed, because in my mind it's not.  it just mellows you out, relaxes you, and pleasurably enhances some of your senses.  when you get drunk, you act like an imbecile, do stupid childish things, and ALWAYS end up making an embarassing ass out of yourself.  drinking can get you so impaired that you have no idea what you're doing; no control over yourself.  you can wake up the next morning missing chunks of an entire night, and you can get yourself into seriuos trouble.   pot is INFINITELY safer, less impairing, and healthier for you.  

i also use pot for some self-medication.  i found out 3 years ago i had Lyme disease, and it was in a VERY advanced stage.  it gave me every physical pain and symptom you can imagine, from horrendous body aches and pains, to severe cognitive impairments (my short term memory is DESTROYED, non-existant).  the medication that i had to take to combat the disease made me absolutely horrendously nauseus, and weed enabled me to stop throwing up everytime i took my medication (the same way Dr's prescribe it for Chemo pateints).  also, for some reason painkillers have ZERO effect on me (i have to get over 3x the amount of novocaine at the dentists, and i STILL feel the drill!!).  when i shredded my ankle and blew out my back in a bad work-related accident 2 summers ago, and when i had micro-nerver surgery in Nov, the pain was so bad, but the weed helped make it tolerable.  

now that i'm out of the college mode of things, i dont smoke just to get that "stupid stoned" state anymore.  i use it as more of a tool; i enjoy a puff or 2 to wind down after a rough day, or to make other experiences enjoyable (ie the amusement park, fireworks, an awesome movie, etc).  in addition, my brain works so much faster than the average person's, and it just helps me calm down and collect my thoughts.  this is VERY useful when i'm trying to write a complex paper, or compose a musical piece, because my brain will take ideas and run with them in a billion different directions at once, and ends up making me confused as to where i really want to go with it.  the pot helps mellow that effect out and organize my thoughts better.

that being said, i will NEVER mix pleasure with business, IE show up to work high, or show up to a show with my keyboard or turntables stoned out of my min (even though that would probably be pretty funny..."whaaaat's this stufff??  black circles with grooves....huh?  what do i do with them??"  LOL  :D

A friend of mine and myself had braces when we were in high school had the same orthodontist.   He would make pot references without actually SAYING it.  He'd mention that you're going to be sore, and to just take an advil or "natural remedies" with a wink, and an elbow kind of thing.

I joined this thread late, but started smoking pot early. I've been smoking pot for "over" 30 years now. I used to smoke it AND drink like a fish, but my stomach issues forced me to stop drinking. I still smoke pot on a daily basis. I collect smoking devices from around the world as well...pipes, hookahs, rolling machines, etc... and openly support legislation or candidates backing legislation to legalize medicinal marijuana use. I'm not quite ready to give the full green light to society, only because I think minors should stay away from it until they turn 18 at least, but for medicinal purposes, I can't see any reason to keep denying people with cancer from the sweet smoke that buries the nausea.

I used to be a major smoker,I started real early,like 8- 10,I have older siblings.I did it maybe 25 times up to the age of 12...Stopped for a few years...My Senior year in highschool,it was an every 4 hour type of thing.I quit shortly after highschool.I've smoked..I've smoked it,maybe a handful of times since highscholl,none in the past 10 years.

Hell,I made the honor roll,and swimming team stoned.

I honestly smoked pot every day from my sophomore year in high school to my junior year in college. I only reduced then cause my leisure time disappeared with a full time job and full time credits.

I still smoke to this day. However, it's more social than before. I would probably still smoke daily if my wife didn't hate it. We got into a heated conversation the other day about what I would do if I found a sack of tweed in my kids room. I told her I would smoke it. She didn't like that too much.

Seriously though, there are more reasons to smoke than to drink. Any situation where you'd feel comfortable having a couple of drinks is more than acceptable to toke it up.

In fact, I'm a much better person stoned than drunk. The Irish blood boils to the surface with liquor. In fact, I can be the biggest asshole in the room.

I've puffed a few times.  Never cared for it.

Back in the day, I didn't want to be mellow. Basically weed ruined all the other drugs I was doing. Ha.
