Post by: BeefStewert on February 23, 2006, 07:12:41 pm I agree. But there was Law talk last year and he wasn't willing to give a hometown discount. And, honestly he had a better year last year than anyone was expecting, so I doubt he will take a break again.
Title: Re: Ty law is miami? Post by: Sunstroke on February 23, 2006, 08:30:15 pm Just my opinion, but I'd much rather see Miami upgrade their secondary through younger FAs and the draft. Ty had an excellent season last year in interceptions, but he's coming into his 12th season (that's 84 in dog years) and that's a little old for a position that requires high end speed and quick direction-changing ability. Title: Re: Ty law is miami? Post by: YoFuggedaboutit on February 23, 2006, 08:37:32 pm I'd rather take Nate Clements and Chris Hope.
Title: Re: Ty law is miami? Post by: Sunstroke on February 23, 2006, 08:53:55 pm I'd rather take Nate Clements and Chris Hope. Me too...unfortunately, that's not going to happen. Nate got tagged yesterday and Hope's agent is talking to Pittsburgh currently to get Chris signed to a long-term deal. Chris doesn't want to leave Pittsburgh either, so I don't think he's going anywhere. Title: Re: Ty law is miami? It bothered me too, so I edited it. Title: Re: Ty law in miami? Post by: TonyB0D on February 23, 2006, 10:01:56 pm i'd love to see him here, if the price was right.... although i read an article today about how at once point in the season he had twice as many pass int.'s than INTs....he plays a rough style...but i think we need someone like that back there.

Stroke...? Title: Re: Ty law in miami? Post by: Sunstroke on February 24, 2006, 12:59:00 am ESPN insider has an article on this (thus my rant in the Around the NFL forum), stating that Law is too expensive for Miami. Stroke...? I posted it over in the other thread...it was a blurb in their rumors section: (2/23) Law too costly for Miami As expected, the Jets and Law parted ways this week, largely due to the $11 million option bonus Law was due March 3. The five-time Pro Bowl player says he wants to play for a contender and has identified Miami has an appealing destination. However, the odds are against Law winding up in a Dolphins uniform, the Palm Beach Post reports. After playing for the discounted price of $2.5 million after foot surgery, the 32-year-old is looking for his final big payday in guaranteed money. "I'd say around $10 million," Law said. The Dolphins likely will balk at giving a big contract to an aging cornerback who at one point last season had nearly twice as many pass interference penalties (nine) as interceptions (five). Meanwhile, the Chiefs and new coach Herm Edwards are expected to show interest, the Kansas City Star reports. The team will have to clear some cap space and is expected to approach several players about restructuring their contracts. Title: Re: Ty law in miami? They have Patrick Surtain and Sammy Knight, They won't be able to afford Law either. Getting rid of either of them to get Law would be counter productive. Title: Re: Ty law in miami? Post by: Dolphin-UK on February 24, 2006, 01:24:44 pm I live by my theory that it is more important to save the cap space and take a prospect than pay over the odds for an ageing unknown.
Title: Re: Ty law in miami? Post by: TonyB0D on February 24, 2006, 01:31:19 pm who's an aging unknown?
Title: Re: Ty law in miami? Post by: Dolphin-UK on February 24, 2006, 02:38:55 pm I meant unknown as in he's getting old, and we'd be taking a risk paying that amount of money for him, given that we can't guarantee what kind of season he's going to have.
His performance during the season was the unknown not the player :) Sorry I didn't make that clear :) Title: Re: Ty law in miami? Post by: TonyB0D on February 24, 2006, 03:01:11 pm i was gonna say....he led the NFL in INTs last year....
Title: Re: Ty law in miami? Post by: Dolphin-UK on February 24, 2006, 03:20:02 pm I'm going to blame the beer for that one, I fnished work at 3pm our time and had a couple of cheeky beers :)

straight shut down corner yo, i'd take him in a heart beat specially with the way our secondary was destory last year on numerous occassions Title: Re: Ty law in miami? It's the fact that he's going to demand an astronomical amount of money from whoever signs him. We can't afford to dump a lot of money into him right now, especially with the salary cap possibly going to pieces in 2007. Welcome to the boards, Mix.
