Title: Hundreds of people marched in support of animal testing
Post by: Ryan on March 01, 2006, 03:22:02 pm
It's about time someone (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/oxfordshire/4750516.stm) stood up in favor of animal testing.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/oxfordshire/4750516.stm

thread cleaned up,and brought back on topic (Obvious link added)

I don't like PETA.  Even though I support animal rights, I think that PETA hurts their cause...they take it to a point where people resist change.

---

Crap...I just re-read this...in FAVOR of animal testing....yeah...where was this?

and on the point of this thread, there needs to be animal testing.  you can't just go and start slapping experimental products on humans....i know its "inhumane" for the animals...and there has to be a better system, but until that exists HOW ELSE THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING TO TEST THIS SHIT.....

"inhumane" for the animals...
This is kind of funny.

Isn't indoor plumbing, for example, "inanimale" for humans?  We're being mistreated and we don't even realize it!  :P

F*ck animal testing for etc. purposes.  I have no problem with it to save lives by curing diseases/cancer...(which will never happen).  But to use it for shampoo,  makeup,  and other experiments "just to see what happens"  they can all go to the 5th ring,  punch hell in their GPS and turn left.

I think that we should let humans volunteer for experimental drugs. Like say, if you are a cancer patient with 1 year to live, I think you would sign up for almost anything.

Of course, barring volunteers, animals are the next best thing.

I don't believe in animal testing at all.  Or mistreating animals in any way. I believe in what PETA does up to some degree. I don't believe in being a vegetarian because the food comes from animals and shit like that. I am going to try to find the "Meet Your Meet" and the KFC video. These videos show you how animals are mistreated. The KFC one is unbelievable how the treat the chickens and shit. I will have to find the links.

For the record I still eat KFC because its good. Mmmmm..... those new snackers.

So you don't believe in the mistreatment of animals yet you fund the practice? uhhhhh...  COOL!  me too.

Anyway, I agree with these anti-PETA peeps.  The way I see it is that we can test out all of our cutting edge medical jive that saves thousands of lives each year which keeps our planet overpopulated, underfunded and polluted as all hell on either animals, reatrded people, or you and I.  I'm picking retarded people animals any day of the week.

You do understand that KFC does not own nor operate the farms don't you.

But KFC doesn't need to use farms that inflict such cruelty right?  That would send a pretty clear message to farmers who want to attract big contracts I think.

How often do you think KFC executives are traveling the country to visit a chicken farm? Do you really think the farmers are going to show their hand? Its the same thing as when your parents want to come for a vist. You "clean house" don't you.

top level execs may not go, but managers, directors, and on occasion vp's go.  they make deals and purchase livestock.  these are the people reporting back to the execs.  these people need to report accurate findings back to senior management so that proper decisions can be made.

furthermore, once employed by <name your company> the employer needs to instill a system of checks and balances to not only ensure proper treatment of livestock (cuz lets face it, they don't make $$ from that) but quality of product.  once processes are in place to put these two initiatives in lock-step then you'll start seeing changes.

the biggest problem is finding a ways to make these companies care.  they don't as long as they're making money.  and it's tough getting laws passed with huge lobbying groups working for these mega farm corporations (nothing is family owned anymore).

WHATEVER, kfc is not what this thread is about.  Let's talk about testing out medication (not lipstick, elmers glue or edible underwear) on animals (I.E. monkeys, rats, llamas, your mom, etc..)  Do you think this is right or wrong?  If you think it's wrong, what's your proposed alternative?

Peta is just way to far out in the out field.

Yet again I must quote a comedian. "it is far easier to harass rich old women in fur coats than it is to harsass a biker gang wearing leather."

The video sucked. BUT australian sheep, middle east market.... you do the math. The chicken I just ate was not a suicide, but it better to be at the top of the food chain than on one of the lower tiers. It would be nice if first we could sedate all the animals first, maybe after a nice feed of aged hay, then kill them. Maybe we could perfect the system so we could get a nice sirlon and a dead convicted murderer in the same factory. Lord knows I would trust the USDA to sort out the filet from the felon.

Thats the thing they have to sedate them but they dont. So those guys that slit the animals necks.. .  if I seen them do that I would judo chop them in the neck and then slit there necks with a butter knife.

When we're out of them let's move on to repeat offenders.  "Everyone with 10 or more convictions please step to the front of the line."

In Kentucky, the "F" in "KFC" does stand for Fried, right?
