Title: Hanley Ramirez tearing it up for Fish.
Post by: MaineDolFan on March 09, 2006, 10:58:57 pm
Ramirez tripled and singled twice against Boston. The front-runner for the Marlins' shortstop job, he was acquired in an offseason trade that sent Mike Lowell and Josh Beckett to the Red Sox.

Hanley is batting .380 so far in spring training games and has shown some snap with his glove.

Yet another guy that I am very happy to see gone from Boston's system.   ::)

He should be bad this year because he is a rookie, Florida's park is death and he has no help in the lineup. However, he should be good for years to come.

One team's loss is another team's gain.  Go Marlins!

Too bad that once he becomes good and the fish can't afford him they probably trade him back to the sox or to the yankees.

Could be.  But I will say this..... Spring Training stats mean nothing to me.  He might be hitting .380 but I'd be willing to bet that half of his hits came off guys who will be in A or AA ball come April.

Good point. Tony Womack hit .400 last year in Spring Training and Enrique Wilson hit .500 the year before that. Still, 10 for 20 is better than 0 for 20.

The Marlins rookies will benefit from having Girardi as manager because as a catcher he has been a teacher nearly his whole career. I just hope for his sake the Marlins management understand that this team will win 60 games a year until 2009 and don't fire him.

Hanley had a monster game in the Marlins' win over the Nat's today...smacking his second and third HRs of the spring as Florida improved to 9-2.
