Title: The Real QB debate
Post by: bsfins on March 14, 2006, 06:43:30 am
I think it's pretty Obvious...MOST of us would prefer Brees, over Cupepper...

But Say Brees signs with the Saints...Which would you prefer?
P. Ramsey,or D. Culpepper?
----------------------------------------------------------------

I Say------> P. Ramsey

Reason....
He's healthy, younger, cheaper, and the Redskins are only asking for a 4th round pick.

Culpepper may not be ready till midseason, wants a boatload of money, and will cost us a 2nd or 3rd round pick atleast...did I mention he's 29-30....

I just feel,If we lose out on D.Brees,I'd rather have P.Ramsey.....JMO...

Patrick Ramsey is no better than Jay Fiedler.

No thank you.

I'd much rather have a guy that can be the clear cut starter for many years to come (cough*brees*cough) than another Feeley/Fieder/Griese/Frerotte/Ramsey.

Are you out of your mind???  Ramsey is another run-of-the-mill average QB.  He is the equivalent of Fiedler/Frerotte.  Culpepper would clearly be an upgrade over those two.  Besides, according to Philly, Culpepper is due a huge roster bonus tomorrow.  If the Vikes can't get a deal done today, they will release him, putting him in the same boat as Brees.  That will drive up both of those guys' asking prices.

No, the roster bonus is due on the 24th. Since the CBA got pushed back, so did the roster bonus. However, I don't think the Vikes will release him. They have plenty of room under the cap, so if they don't trade him, I think they will pay the bonus and keep him for a year. A healthy Culpepper next off season has a lot more trade value.

If we don't get Drew Brees.  I'd rather see us make a push for Arizona's Josh McCown.

I read in the sun-sentinal this morning that the fins are also in pursuit of Matt Schaub. If we cannot get Brees, I'd take Schaub over Ramsey/Culpepper/other bum any day.

I'd like some competition for Gus,I'm against bringing in Culpepper, and probably A.Brooks.I wouldn't mind as I've said for awhile,if AZ,drops Josh McCown.I'd like to avoid the mobile QB.(just personal preference)

Its not a good sign that he left Miami without a deal in place.  No word out of camp - nothing.  For all we know he was disgusted by the weight room and decided to leave.

I agree 100%. Once a guy leaves, he rarely signs. Especially in a case where he is getting less money. Things aren't looking good.

I do not want Culpepper. I think he is damaged goods, and extremely overrated. He'll come with a high price tag, cost a second round pick, doesn't have a knee. No thanks.

If McGahee can come back from a devastating knee injury, why can't Culpepper?  Look at Pennington's shoulder injury come back.  Don't get me wrong, I'm for Brees over Daunte, but I'm just playing devil's advocate here.

Even healthy, I don't want him.

im really big on McCowen this guy has a strong arm. Last year he has good WR a sorry Oline with no RB or TE. Imagine what he could do with the Phins

He could go 6-10 and be out of the league in 2 years like Cade.

     It's McCown, not McNown.

I have a funny feeling Miami is going to strike out on finding our next savior QB in free agency. I am resigning myself to the fact that we are going to have to hope we can groom one of these guys that we can draft in round 2+.

Something I read on Sun-Sentinel.com this morning alluded to Brees wants to sign with Miami, likes what the Dolphins have to offer the best of what he's seen thus far, but the money wasn't there.  Supposedly, he's going to meet with his agent after the agent meets with the team today.

Not sure what that means...

it meant he just wanted more money bottom line.  it obviously wasn't about winning it all.  i doubt the saints will be in any shape to win a championship anytime soon.  i hope they draft a qb, i'm bitter.

Drew Brees will rot in New Orleans.  Greedy bastard.
