Title: Boston's JV squad roughs up Burnett...
Post by: MaineDolFan on March 18, 2006, 01:38:55 pm
I know had this been on the flip side of the coin, Raptor would post something.  So, in that spirit, when in Rome...

AJ Burnett faced the Sox JV team today - not one player on the field for the Sox is a starter, 7 of the players aren't expected to make the squad.  Before AJ left the game in the second inning with an injury, Boston powerhouses Alex Cora, Alejandro Machado, JT Snow, Adam Stern and David Murphy smacked AJ around for 3 hits and 2 runs in just over one inning.

That would be Cora, Machado, Snow, Stern and Murphy.  Of those guys...Snow is the only one that'll make the squad.

Burnett has an ERA of 9.00 so far this spring.

On the flip side of that, Cy Young candidate Lenny DiNardo cruised through his first two innings.

Just thought I'd pass that along.

 >:D

Not sure about the injury to Burnett, but he seemed to be in a lot of pain after he gave up a basehit to Murphy.

Pretty brutal road game for both squads... Did they play in the Coliseum?  ;)

I was probably the only one not impressed by Burnett when he was with FL,  but hey,  it's spring training maybe he's working the kinks out?

last time i checked Armsberg (our pitching coach) was having burnett work on his mechanics. Something about throwing over the top. Maybe that has something to do with the injury.

If that's true, I would probably fire the pitching coach.
