Title: Candace Parker Post by: Denver_Bronco on March 20, 2006, 01:35:54 pm Another woman with a phantom dunk. After reviewing the 4 women who have "dunked" or whatever in a game i have come to the conclusion that there is still 1 legitimate dunk ever by a woman. A fingeroll off the rim is not a dunk. Take note.
Title: Re: Candace Parker Post by: jtex316 on March 20, 2006, 01:38:58 pm I agree here. If I saw this correctly, the very tippy-tip of her middle finger slightly grazed the bottom of the cylinder, and the ball just fell into the hoop, and everyone called it a "dunk". In essence it was an overhand finger-roll.
There was also someone else who did this, too. The only "dunk" was when Lisa Leslie did it, and she really had to stretch out as far as possible to barely dunk the ball in (she takes off a fraction too early and that ball is not dunked). Title: Re: Candace Parker Post by: EDGECRUSHER on March 20, 2006, 02:00:04 pm People need to give up on women's basketball. It is sloppy, slower paced and just bad. Any decent High School men's team can take down a WNBA team with ease.

Title: Re: Candace Parker Post by: Denver_Bronco on March 20, 2006, 03:29:10 pm What did you guys expect a 360 windmill of the glass? A two handed jam would be sufficent, where the rim actually moves....Title: Re: Candace Parker Post by: jtex316 on March 20, 2006, 04:35:56 pm You must be able to "grasp" the rim with your hand in order for it to be a dunk. This way, the ball can be on your fingers and your palm of your hand can grab, grasp, or grab and quickly let go of the Rim. You can't simply touch the rim with your fingers and let the ball "roll off" your hand - you must actualy dunk it in.
Title: Re: Candace Parker Post by: JVides on March 20, 2006, 05:10:21 pm This from a bunch of guys who've never dunked on anything more than an eight-foot rim, and probably can't go left to save their lives. Take it from someone who was once a dunker (but with only one hand...my vert was never great) many female basketball players are impressive, regardless of whether they can dunk. And I've gotten schooled by female players before, including my sister, who would be way better than me if she were my size instead of just 5'9".
I may not enjoy the women's game, but I can respect those that do. Title: Re: Candace Parker Post by: jtex316 on March 20, 2006, 05:35:54 pm Jvides you are "conclusion-jumping" a little bit here. I respect the WNBA - at times. Any one of their players would destroy me. But that doesn't change the fact that Candace Parker (if I saw it correctly) did not really "dunk" the ball in the hoop as much as she "laid it in".

I lumped you all in with edgecrusher there. My fault. :-[ Title: Re: Candace Parker Post by: jtex316 on March 21, 2006, 11:13:07 am It's OK
...and I can go left. Do you live in SFL? Title: Re: Candace Parker Post by: JVides on March 21, 2006, 12:45:48 pm Yep, sure do, in Miami, close to Sunset Place. (US 1 and Sunset)

Title: Re: Candace Parker Post by: Dave Gray on March 21, 2006, 04:09:54 pm I don't know if it makes me a sexist or what, but for whatever reason, I find the WNBA extremely unentertaining.
