Title: R.I.P - Paul Dana (1975-2006) Post by: jtex316 on March 26, 2006, 11:12:47 pm Unfortunately, Paul Dana died earlier today, when he crashed his car at around 220 MPH into another car that had been almost at a stand-still, because it was involved in a practice wreck.
He was 30. The driver of the other car that Dana crashed into is OK at the hospital, and didn't suffer a broken bone. The crash reminded me of the Alex Zanadri crash in 2001, where a car slammed into him coming from Pit Row, immediately ripping off both of his legs and nearly killing him. RIP. He was a rookie in the Indy Car circuit (open cockpits). There was a caution out after another car had spun out. Dana never slowed down even after almost 8 seconds of caution. He ran straight into the other car. Title: Re: R.I.P - Paul Dana (1975-2006) Post by: Dave Gray on March 27, 2006, 12:04:36 pm That crash was REALLY bad looking.
You said that the guy going fast died? It looked to me like the guy who got slammed into got the worst of it. Title: Re: R.I.P - Paul Dana (1975-2006) Post by: Phishfan on March 27, 2006, 12:35:37 pm The first car was turned so that the driver did not take as much impact. Dana's front end basically disintegrated with the impact.
