The Dolphins have re-signed Damion McIntosh to a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

"There were a handful of teams interested," Weston-based agent Brett Tessler said Tuesday morning. "But at the end of the day, he decided he wanted to continue being a part of what's happening here with the Dolphins."

McIntosh, 29, has started the past 30 games at left tackle for the Dolphins since joining the team in 2004. McIntosh, though, was released in early March to clear more than $4 million in salary cap room.

McIntosh is projected as a swing backup behind new left tackle L.J. Shelton, a former Cleveland starter who was signed to a four-year, $15 million free-agent contract earlier this month, and incumbent right tackle Vernon Carey. But it's believed McIntosh, a McArthur High graduate, will have the chance to compete for a starting position in training camp.

Can't say i expected this one, what with his court case, and the signing of L.J Shelton of course.

As long as he's relegated to the backup role, I'm ok with it.  He should not be starting by any means.

I'm fine with this.  As long as he's a backup.  If he has to start for any reason, at least he's familier with the system and the other members of the line.
