Title: TDMMC: VGB - Round 1 (Final Fantasy VII vs. Battlefield 1942) Post by: Dave Gray on April 15, 2006, 10:10:34 pm Final Fantasy VII (1997, PS1/PC)
Square (http://www.psxzone.opalnet.pl/Podstrony/Final_Fantasy/screens-l/scr12.jpg) “Final Fantasy VII†was the first game in the enormously popular “Final Fantasy†role-playing game series to be developed for the Sony Playstation, and later for Windows-based PCs. It was also the first to utilize 3D graphics and fully rendered characters, with beautiful full-motion video cut-scenes. The game was a huge success with both critics, and fans, and was an enormous commercial success. It remains arguably the most popular title in the series to date. VS. Battlefield 1942 (2002, PC) EA Games (http://gammer.itc.ua/img/ko/2002/38/battlefield1942_1.jpg) Set in World War II, Battlefield 1942 is a first-person shooting game unlike any other. This was one of the most popular games due largely to its internet multiplayer ability, and also due to the control that you had over your character – they could not only run or walk, but could fly fighter aircraft planes, drive tanks and jeeps, control stationary ground weapons, and even commandeer naval battleships. But I liked Final Fantasy when it was like 1-3. This 3D version just never did it for me. I know it would have been cheesy if they kept it the same way, but I that's what I liked.

but at least it wasn't FF7 vs. Battlefield 2...i would have hated to have to vote against my favorite PC game of all time. Title: Re: TDMMC: VGB - Round 1 (Final Fantasy VII vs. Battlefield 1942) Post by: Dave Gray on April 16, 2006, 04:33:30 pm I voted for Battlefield. I thought it's use of vehicles and the idea of capturing areas was pretty sweet. As much as I recognize FF7 for being a big deal, I've always found RPGs like this unentertaining. I played through Knights of the Old Republic, only because I'm a Star Wars geek and it got really good reviews. It was kind of fun, but nowhere near the entertainment I get out of shooting someone or driving or something.
