Title: The Phonetic Alphabet is cool. Post by: jtex316 on April 17, 2006, 04:34:42 pm Does anyone on here know what the hell the phonetic alphabet is?
It is a list of 26 words. Each words starts with a different letter of the alphabet. This is used a lot by military personnel for codes and special language. The point of it is to make absolute sure that the proper letters are being repeated / entered / ordered / given. For example, you wouldn't say "The password is A-B-C". You would say "The Password is Alpha-Bravo-Charlie". I love the phonetic alphabet. Here it is. Enjoy. Use it the next time you're screwing around with a walkie-talkie, it sounds cool: A - Alpha B - Bravo C - Charlie D - Delta E - Epsilon F - Foxtrot G - Golf H - Hotel I - India J - Juliet K - Kilo L - Lima M - Mike N - November O - Oscar P - Papa Q - Quebec R - Romeo S - Sierra T - Tango U - Umbrella V - Victor W - Whiskey X - X-ray Y - Yankee Z - Zulu *Note: When I learned the Phonetic Alphabet, this was the official list as of 1994-1997. Echo I guess makes more sense, but U will always be Umbrella for me.
