I-T-O-L-J-S-Z.  In 1985, Russian programmer Alexey Paijtnov created a game where the object was to arrange the letters, falling from above and created by 4 squares each, in an orderly fashion.  While the popularity of the game soared in the Soviet Union, the game design and likenesses were licensed out by Paitjnov to Nintendo, and in 1989, Nintendo sold it for newly released Game Boy.  The game became so popular in the United States that it has since been released onto over 60 different consoles or platforms, making Tetris the most widely distributed game in video game history.

What started with Sierra’s “Kings Quest” turned raunchy, as the controversial “Leisure Suit Larry” took the keyboard-based adventure crowd by storm in 1987 with its use of sexual themes and nudity, in a time where nothing like it existed. The series peaked with its 3rd lewd installment, “Passionate Patti in the Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals. Along with a million sexual puns, the game provided a solid puzzle solving mission, which was subsequently, to get laid. What made “LSL3” stand out were the little things; for example the manual was a fake magazine, providing copy protection, game hints (if you looked hard enough) and a ton of cleverly masked puns. It also switched characters half way and let you play as Patti, showing you the same game from the other perspective. The gimmick of boobies aside, “LSL3” was a fantastic adventure game.

LSL3 was a really fun game, and was one of the first games that went beyond your PC screen and used attached literature as part of it.  I will be surprised if it even gets one vote against Tetris, though.  Tetris is the same now as it was, then, since graphics are no factor.

I've played more LSL3 than Tetris.

Wow...i didn't know anyone actually read those descriptions.

What I mean is:

LSL3 came with a booklet.  It served as a wolcome guide to the island.  It had fake advertisements to all of the different locations on the island.  It was a humorous read, and served as the game's copy protection.  By reading the different parts of the magazine, you were sort of given clues to puzzles you'd encounter later, or it would give you ideas to try.  It was just a unique way to become more involved in the game, in a way that wasn't delivered to you on your monitor.

I used to love the Sierra games when I was in middle school - although I never played LL3 (only the original).  My favorite Sierra game was GoldRush even though it wasn't a very popular one.  Basically you lived in Brooklyn at the start of the Gold Rush and had to get out to San Francisco to find your brother and his gold mine.  What made it different was that you had 3 routes to get accross the country - by stagecoach, through the Panama Canal, or around Cape Horn. 

Anyone play or remember this game?  I've been searching for a working copy online but have yet to find it.  Apparently Sierra doesn't recognize abandonware.

But seriously, who is going to pay $20-35 for an 18 year-old game?

I found 1 download of this game about 2 months ago.  The game ran, but the text was all scrambled - making one of these old Sierra Games worthless.

My buddy was a huge space quest fan,and kings quest fan......so I understand....I just wanted to make sure it was the right game...too bad underdogs.org isn't around...that was the frst place I looked...

I actully found another Lil b,on a DOS gaming message board talking about sierra games...kind of freaky really..I'll keep my yes peeled if I find a copy....

I think the reason Tetris blew up was cause it was launched w/ one of the first and actually good handhelds, Gameboy.

I can't even begin to count how many times I'd see teachers taking the Gameboys away from students at school when they first came out.
