Title: Great game in Toronto Post by: raptorsfan29 on April 21, 2006, 10:59:31 pm dirty sox and the awesome blue jays were battling it out
Beckett went 7.1 ip 5 ER Burnett went 4 IP 3 ER Both Bullpens have been near perfect And to top is off the famous Overbay double. And what better way to do it then a game winning rbi double Title: Re: Great game in Toronto Post by: EDGECRUSHER on April 22, 2006, 12:36:54 am Beckett should've been taken out earlier and Papelbon should've been brought in. Him or Foulke. Francona made a mistake.
Over at the Baltimore/Yankee game the final score was Umpires 6 Yankees 5. Bases loaded 2 out and it's a groundball to Jeter. He makes a bad throw, but the runner was out. Umpire calls him safe and 2 runners score. 9th inning, 6-5 O's and it's bases loaded, 2 outs and 3-2 to Hideki Matsui. Ray throws ball 4 and the Umpire calls it a strike. This has been the 3rd game the Umpires have cost the Yankees already and it's been pretty ridiculous so far. I just don't understand why we casn't have Questec or instant replay? What's the harm in it? Why should a non-player have such a huge say in who wins and loses? "Human Error" should mean Julio Lugo boots a grounder, not the Umpire blinking and missing the play. Oh, and Burnett is hurt again. Not looking good for him so far. Title: Re: Great game in Toronto Post by: raptorsfan29 on April 22, 2006, 12:42:52 am there were also so many blown calls on both sides of the game with Tor/Bos. Ump have been very crappy this year

Francona made a mistake. beckett was at 78 pitches, why take him out. When you got a pitcher that is dominating the game and he is at 78 pitches usually you would want to keep him in Title: Re: Great game in Toronto Post by: MaineDolFan on April 22, 2006, 11:10:09 am Great game. Josh and I had some beers last night, he's beating himself up for plunking that guy in the 8th. Bush league move. Gonzo was hit by a curveball to load the bases, it wasn't on purpose. Josh shouldn't have hit anyone. Very good game, both bullpens were nails. Foulke really battled out there. I talked to Glaus after the game, he said that he should have been called out on strikes but will take the walk. Speaking of Glaus, when that guy is on - he's on. I forgot how nice his swing is, it's been a while since I've seen him live.
I hope AJ is okay, he was in pretty good pain last night. Title: Re: Great game in Toronto Post by: EDGECRUSHER on April 22, 2006, 11:45:42 am Yeah, when healthy Glaus can just destroy any pitch. However, it's hard for him to stay healthy and his defense is very bad. He would best be served as the Blue Jays DH so it can cut down his chances for an injury.
Title: Re: Great game in Toronto Post by: raptorsfan29 on April 22, 2006, 02:24:26 pm Troy actually hasn't been that bad at third base. made only one error when he hit a player going to home plate. other then that he has been great
Why is beckett beating himself up about that. it's just one pitch, mistakes happen. |
