Title: My Beloved New York Rangers Post by: EDGECRUSHER on April 24, 2006, 09:07:46 pm You want to see a team with bad luck? The Rangers lost 15 of their last 23 games to end the year and no doubt will be swept by the Devils. These are their injuries:
1) Henrik Lundqvist - Out a few weeks after hurting his hip in PRACTICE. 2) Marek Malik - Our best defenseman separates his shoulder on a dirty hit. He is the big guy with presence, no one comes close to what he does. 3) Darius Kasparaitis - Groin injury, out a few weeks. 4) Martin Rucinsky - Crushed finger. Can't even hold a stick, out the whole month. 5) Steve Rucchin - A role player, but was a talented winger that gave us a better 2nd line. Now, here are the injuries that occurred on Saturday: 1) Jaromir Jagr - Separated shoulder, probably done for the year. This is what the league MVP did. NY was down a lot and he got frustrated, so he tried to nail Scott Gomez, but missed and dislocated his shoulder. He deserved it, but it still sucks. 2) Jason Ward - He is our best penalty killer and he hurt his leg and is done for the year(5 days). This really sucks because if you are to lose in the playoffs, you want to make sure the other team juust outplayed you. Not because you got killed with injuries to all your key players and are putting a team on the ice that doesn't resemble the one you played with all year. Now, even 100% healthy the Devils could very well have won this series. They won 11 in a row and are genuinely a good team. However, they wouldn't have swept and they wouldn't have won the division. That's what sucks. Title: Re: My Beloved New York Rangers Post by: EDGECRUSHER on April 24, 2006, 11:24:11 pm Yeah, but the Rangers really aren't a 6 seed with little chance of anything. For most of the year they were a contender, so to limp into the playoffs due to injury and then get crushed leaves a really bad taste in your mouth.
At least Quinn is gone. Domi needs to go too, he adds nothing. Title: Re: My Beloved New York Rangers Post by: Phishfan on April 25, 2006, 10:34:53 am I'm an Islanders fan. I can take solace that the Rangers will lose quick. At least the Devils are the lesser of two evils to me.
Title: Re: My Beloved New York Rangers Post by: gocowboys31 on April 25, 2006, 04:25:35 pm The devils are a well- oiled machine. The devils are always in contention this time of year. Broduer is a excellent goaltender, and playoff tested. The rangers have been stumbling for about 3 weeks now. Drawing the devils in the first round was the worst case scenario for the rangers. Getting swept would be disastrous.
Meanwhile my Edmonton Oilers are going to shock the world by beating the heavily favored red wings. Put everyone to sleep. Title: Re: My Beloved New York Rangers Post by: EDGECRUSHER on April 25, 2006, 08:19:23 pm The devils are a well- oiled machine. Meanwhile my Edmonton Oilers are going to shock the world by beating the heavily favored red wings. That'd be great. Edmonton's goalie can take them far. The Devils were playing so well that even if NY was 100% healthy and finished WELL ahead of them(they lost 15 of 23 to end the year because of injuries), they still may not have beat them. But, it wouldn't be this bad. They'll be swept and probably finish the series outscored 24-5. Put everyone to sleep. I felt the same way, but it is a different team and different game now. I also have a distaste for the Rangers because I had a roommate who was a fan while in school.
