     As much as all of us could go on and on about Ricky losing his appeal, let's not forget that the NFL Draft is only a few days away.  For the next few days, I'll be posting some of the "need" positions for the Dolphins, along with the profiles of several prospects.  You, the TDMMC faithful, will weigh in on the prospects and pick the one that you think would be the best fit for your Miami Dolphins.  Tonight, I want to focus on the quarterbacks. 

  With the aquisition of Daunte Culpepper and the soon to be aquisition of Joey Harrington, you'd think that the quarterback position wouldn't be such a pressing need.  However, Coach Saban and General Manager Randy Mueller said they will still address the QB position in the draft.  Obviously, we won't be anywhere near Leinert, Cutler, or Young, but there might be some other guys that could do well for us.  Here are some of those guys, these profiles come from NFL.com.

We have traded away our second and sixth round picks this year for QB's (Culpepper and Lemon). It looks like we are going to trade away a pick from next year for another QB (Harrington). No way we draft another QB this year. There are too many other positions of need.

IF we do indeed draft a QB, it will mean one of two things:
1- One of the "top 3" QB's slips down to #16
2- The Harrington trade won't happen. (We might still pursue him when he eventually gets cut)

I don't see them drafting another QB, especially if the Harrington trade goes through.  They need to focus on positions of need which are as follows:

Defensive Backs
Offensive Line
Linebackers
Interior Defensive Line

I don't think the Harrington trade goes thru.  I think Saban waits, since Harrington has already "committed" to the Fins, for the Lions to let him loose.  Why give up a pick when you don't have to?

I think it is a concensus. The talk about drafting a QB is either to replace Lemon (unlikely) or is a smokescreen. I say smokescreen.

     I totally agree with that.  However, my gut feeling tells me that Coach Saban will trade out of 16th spot for a later 1st rounder and possibly a second and an extra third.  The first round is very deep with DB's and if we traded down I still think we'd have a reasonable a shot at still getting Jimmy Williams or Ashton Youboty.  Now, how does this involve a QB you ask?  Well, if we get the extra picks we could then probably afford to use one of our three seventh rounders, on a developmental QB.  Like Kellen Clemens, Tavaris Jackson, or Erik Meyer.

I thought this Clemens guy has risen to like a 2nd or 3rd ?

The problem is, Harrington loses a lot of value to us if he cannot participate in minicamps etc. until mid-June. A pick in rounds 5-7 have basically the same value (http://www.footballoutsiders.com/2006/04/24/ramblings/nfl-draft/3828/) as signing someone who went undrafted (Brady notwithstanding). If what the Lions want can be addressed by giving them a future pick or two in this range, I'm all for it.
