i would put stats in here but i'm lazy. The only thing i didn't understand was. Why the hell was Yankees suck being yelled in the stadium. i was listening to this on radio so. I know we hate the yankees but this just seems pointless to say. I know nobody cares but just felt like saying it. Vernon Wells is a legit MVP candidate, their pitching looks solid (with or without the psychosomatic Burnett) and there's enough good bats in the lineup that they should score plenty of runs. Alexis Rios is quickly becoming a serious monster at the plate. He has that whole "smoothness" in the way he plays that a lot of the great ones have. I love watching players that have that. He only has 84 AB's this season though...is Toronto still sitting him against certain lefties like they were at the start of the season?
My Padres pitching is certainly fired up...at the time I'm posting this, SD is taking a scoreless game into the bottom of the 9th against the Cubbies. The Padres have now given up 0 runs, 4 hits and 8 walks in the last 18 innings. Walks aside, that's a tight stat-line there. ;) Now we just need a 9th inning rally to get another 1-0 win. Baseball's full of these little trade-offs. We have a ballpark larger than several third world countries, and pitchers who can keep it inside our borders. What we DON'T have is anyone who even vaguely resembles Vernon Wells, or even Alexis Rios, in terms of offensive potential. I think if the Padres finish over .500 this year, it will be because they win a buttload of 1-0 and 2-1 type games.
