Title: Bucs Sign Boston Post by: TonyB0D on May 25, 2006, 08:49:00 am good riddance you overhyped, always-injured, steroid-shooting, old-man-beating bum!!!
********** Buccaneers sign WR David Boston TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Receiver David Boston, who has missed most of the past two seasons, signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday. Boston, a Pro Bowl selection in 2001 when he had 98 receptions for the Arizona Cardinals, was limited to five games over the past two years with the Miami Dolphins because of injuries. All five of those games came in 2005, when he caught four passes for 80 yards before being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. A first-round draft pick of the Cardinals in 1999, Boston has 315 career catches for 4,699 yards and 25 touchdowns in seven seasons with Arizona, San Diego and Miami. The Bucs also announced that receiver B.J. Johnson was released. Title: Re: Bucs Sign Boston Post by: Brian Fein on May 25, 2006, 09:13:41 am :'(

Title: Re: Bucs Sign Boston Post by: crazy_scar_man on May 25, 2006, 12:07:59 pm I was surprised by his lack of play time here. He was such a stud coming out of college and his first few years as a pro.
I don't think he'll be able to resurrect his career... unless maybe they switch him to TE. Title: Re: Bucs Sign Boston Post by: Dave Gray on May 25, 2006, 02:08:24 pm In an ironic twist, I think the same thing that made him good was what brought him down. He was such a big receiver...so powerful. But I don't think that your body can hold up like that at the WR position.

I remember reading that at one point he was playing at nearly 260, but by last season was down in the 230 range. If he could get into the 215-225 range, his knees should hold up. After all, he's 6'2". Title: Re: Bucs Sign Boston Post by: Phishfan on May 25, 2006, 04:43:09 pm David Boston cannot drop to 215 in my opinion. Rememeber the guys is a physical specimine (through the aid of artificial substances). Even at 260 the guy had low body fat. The use of steroids also breaks the body down over time.
Title: Re: Bucs Sign Boston Post by: DolFan619 on May 25, 2006, 07:49:00 pm    Boston was supposed to be the complimentary guy to Chambers. Boston was supposed to be the "other" receiver to help Jay Fiedler. Boston was supposed to take pressure of Ricky Williams and the eight man fronts he saw. Boston was supposed to be the Pro Bowl guy we knew in Arizona. Dolphins fans felt we received a steal by getting this guy for a 6th rounder and by sending over Jamar "The Bust" Fletcher. None of the above happened.Â
Marty Booker turned out to be the number two guy, and he's done a fine job. You could give Jay Fiedler, Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne as his receivers and still he would still be a pathetic piece of shit quarterback. Ricky never saw the eight man fronts that season, instead he retired to see the world(and to smoke pot as well). Boston never returned to Pro Bowl form, and he wasn't the steal we all thought he was.  In two injury plagued seasons in Miami, David Boston only had four receptions for 80 yards, only producing two first downs. Most of those yards came from a Gus Frerotte pass during the game against the Saints in Baton Rouge, LA. That was really his only highlight moment for the Dolphins. Aside from that, David will be not so fondly remembered for his: steroid use, failed physicals, chronic knee problems, and airport beatings.  All I can say is that David will probably be joining the rest of the failed veteran players Jon Gruden has picked up. Guys the likes of Ricky Dudley, Charlie Garner, etc. So long David, you won't be missed. |
