i was watching Pardon the Interuption and there was a little segment that they talked about the all star game deciding the all star game and they said how the players union hasn't decided whether to accept the all star game deciding home field advantage for the next year and beyond.

My Question for everyone is Should the all star game decide which league gets homefield advantage or not? Should a different way be used and what would that be?

One of the stupidest sports rulings I have ever heard of.

It truly is one of the dumbest things MLB has ever thought of. A complete overreaction to the All-Star game ending in a tie.

I mean, Jason Varitek is gonna be in the game and while I believe he will rebound in the 2nd half, he has been horrible so far due to injury. Robinson Cano will also start at 2B and all of you Saber folk know why this is a horrible idea.

I think Matsui may still make the fucking team.

David Eckstein will probably start at SS for the NL despite having an .OPS over 100 points lower than Edgar Renteria.

Paul Lo Duca starts for the NL at Catcher with an OPS almost 150 points lower than Michael Barrett. Nice of the Mets fans to stuff the ballot box.

Vlad Guerrero will start with the 12th highest OPS of an AL outfielder. Yes, 12th. Think that's bad? Johnny Dmaon is 19th. Now don't get me wrong, 12 and 19 overall is actually pretty good. There numbers are very good too for where they play, but if the game actually means somehting, they sit down.

Damon is fine at 19 because he plays CF so the numbers are allowed to go lower. So, once Gary Matthews Jr. fails his steroid test it will be even better  >:D

The game can't be allowed to mean something if the fans vote in players by stuffing ballot boxes.

I just feel,that Unless your team is in first place,or in a serious playoff race,The guy From Tampa,Cubs,or whatever losing team could care less who gets the Homefield in the world series.

I prefer going by the best record....

I prefer either best record or alternating years to determine home team in the WS. The All Star game solution was as big a knee-jerk reaction as MLB has made in a while.

I've done my all-star voting already... 25 times, which is all that MLB.com will allow me to stuff the box. Same votes each time:

AL: Victor Martinez, David Ortiz, Jose Lopez, Miguel Tejada, A-Rod, Vlad Guerrero, Carl Crawford and Ichiro.

NL: Johnny Estrada, Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Jose Reyes, Miguel Cabrera, Jason Bay, Alfonso Soriano and Matt Holliday

The fucked up thing about the All Star game is that managers are so hell bent on giving everyone a chance to play, that they end up having games like in 2002 when it ended in a tie.  That was a messed up year..... the AL had like seven shortstops on their rosters, and the NL had seven closers in their bullpen. 

Manage it like a real game and see what happens. 

I figured being allowed to vote 25 times was a computer glitch. Nope, they encourage you to vote up to 25 times. Yeah, no advantage for big market teams there. Totally see how Paul Lo Duca should start the All-Star game.

I don't see why being able to vote 25 times advantages players from big-market teams, unless fans from big markets are more likely than fans from small markets to vote multiple times.

It's a matter of quantity. Who has more people to be able to stuff a ballot box, New York or Kansas City? Who is more livid about baseball, Boston or Milwaukee?
