Despite rumors circulating yesterday the Yankees were in hot pursuit of Kansas City outfielder Reggie Sanders, a team official claimed there have not been detailed talks between the teams since the Royals changed GMs two weeks ago. The Yankees last month rejected an offer of Sanders for top pitching prospect Phil Hughes. See what the Mets started? Tampa Bay's GM says "I'll trade you Victor Zambrano for Scott Kazmir" as a joke and the Mets GM accepts it. Now, every GM starts talks with a ridiculous trade proposal. Pujols for Omar Vizquel David Wright for Tony Womack Ryan Howard for Juan Pierre One day, another one of these jokes will be accepted....looking at you Jim Bowden. I just said he was because it was such a ridiculous trade that he had to have been either holding in his laughter or crossing his fingers when he proposed it.
You know, like when the Twins GM asked for Joe Nathan, Francisco Liriano and Boof Bonser for AJ Pierzynski. No way was he serious when he asked for that, but he got it.
