Title: 2008 TDMMC Fantasy Football
Post by: Sunstroke on July 01, 2008, 11:41:36 pm

Oh yes, it's time once again for the greatest game on earth...fantasy football. TDMMC FFL has been activated, and most of the teams that were in last year have probably already received an invitation, though it looked like a few of last year's teams didn't have email addresses listed, so not sure if you all got the invite.

To join, you can follow the link in the league invitation, or you can go to Yahoo FFL homepage, choose the "join custom league" option and use the following settings:

Name: TDMMC FFL 2008
Password:  TDMMC

Same scoring set as last season...and max teams set at 14. I have the live draft "tentatively" set for Saturday, 8/30 at 8 PM EDT, but we can juggle if needed.

Come take the crown from the Redzone Freakfest if you can...I have my FFL GM wingtips polished up and I'm ready for another title defense! ;D

P.S. Thanks to Lil_B for the nudge

Well I'm in Tomorrow never Addai

Hmmm are we going to miss our draft because of the radio show?

Anytime  ;)

Hmmm...good point. I'll make it the following evening, Sunday 8/31 at same time.

Check that...move it tentatively to riday 8/29 at 8 PM EDT. It wouldn't give a decent time option for the 8/31 date.

And again, looking for feedback from all interested parties in regards to the draft schedule.

edited to note date change

I am in the process of signing up but I was looking at your draft date and that is Labor Day Weekend. I don't know about everyone else but I will definately be out of town that weekend. If everyone else can make it then great I can let my draft auto pilot but it is something to consider.  :)

It is asking for the league ID# not the name....anyone have that information so I can get in?

I didn't get the invite either, and it's also asking for the league ID...

Didn't know it actually asked for that number, but the league ID is 111782 and password is TDMMC.

^^
Thanks Stroke....I am in.

On the scoring set for bonus point on the receiving/rushing over 100 and passing over 300 I notice it is set at a 1 point bonus. Is that how it normally is? I always thought it was 5 points but I could have that mixed up with one of the other 8 leagues I am in lol. I just don't think a 1 point bonus is much of a bonus I guess. I think that goes in part with your draft in trying to pick players who will reach those incentives more than others. Just a thought!!!!

Post by: StL FinFan on July 02, 2008, 08:00:41 pm
So if one back gets 98 yards and another gets 101, that merits a 5 point swing?  I think not.

Yeah, for the RB/WR/QB plateaus, 1 point is pretty reasonable.

Love the name "Funk Soul Chicken"...

Let's get some chatter going about the draft date as well. I need to know when you guys want to set that up.

Cool I could not remember how it was set up last year.

As far as the draft date goes I posted earlier that we should move it away from Labor Day weekend but I was waiting to hear others thoughts and so far nothing has been said.

You guys ready to get whooped the first 5 games only to smack me back into 3rd to last place the rest of the season?  Good...

BTW - Whose who?  Some names are obvious but Funk Chicken is not...

If you didn't guess I manage the one and only Las Vegas Sucks.  The Sucks always start strong only to fail me halfway through.

My favorite personal fantasy statistic...in leagues with 14 teams or more, football or baseball, including last year's Phinsmasters Challenge, I am a perfect 11-0 all time.

Make 'em large, make us dig, and I'll find me some nuggets. ;)

That's why I like more teams.  You'll have 2 or 3 superstars at best.  The rest of your team is pure football knowledge.

What are the pre-draft rankings based on?

How does the live draft work?

Do we all log on to our computers and select when it is our turn?

Title: Re: 2008 TDMMC Fantasy Football
Post by: Sunstroke on August 16, 2008, 08:50:52 pm

1) Based on Yahoo's writers' personal opinions

2) Click on the link that says "draft room about 30 minutes or so before the draft, and it will pop open a draft java applet window.

3) Look around the applet, and common sense will tell ya how to select players. Simply highlight the player by clicking on him, and then click "draft player."

When do we find out the order of drafting?

I'm planning to be there for the start (1am UK time) but might not be for the end and I want to stop the stupid CPU drafting 3 kickers because apparently they are ranked higher than the next running back (slight exaggeration on a draft already run!)

There's no more chAtroom, B. Yahoo totally changed their drafting page. I hate the new format. You'll see what I mean next week. Some advice for you, go on earlier than usual to familirise yourself with the new look.

Some Questions I have as draft day approaches:

1) What does W/R and BN mean?

2) Are our rosters 17 players deep?  If not, how many players are on the roster

3) How many rounds is the draft?

Sorry, I am a novice at this

W/R is a flex position where you can put a running back or wide receiver depending on your own whim or plan.  Sunstroke likes to play with two RBs, two receivers, and one W/R, however, I have played in leagues that have had one RB, one reciever, and three W/R's.

BN stands for bench.  In the case of a tie, the tiebreaker goes to how well your bench did that week.

17 players on the roster would mean the draft is 17 rounds.  It goes in reverse order each round.  For example, if Lil B picks first in the first round, he'll pick last in the second round, first in the third round, last in the fourth round, etc.......

Why are you lying to kid, everyone knows you don't take a kicker in the first round.

You take the kicker in the second round, taking a defense is most important you want to grab a good one in the first round.

You should not be able to to pick BN players till you starting roster is full.  May be next year?

And the draft order should be the order you place in league?

Title: Re: 2008 TDMMC Fantasy Football
Post by: Sunstroke on August 29, 2008, 11:27:41 pm

Those are some really interesting shoulds...

The first "should," to anyone who knows fantasy football, is ridiculous. You draft whatever players you want, whether active or bench, as long as you have a roster slot to accommodate the player.

As far as the second "should" goes...you were a fairly obnoxious bitch in the draft room tonight, and that is getting to be a trend with you. I suggest that you "should" consider toning your shit down about three notches or you "should" not expect to get invited back next season.

I agree totally on the first point.  You need to stockpile players at the positions that matter most first.

On the second point, I really can't comment on his actions because I wasn't there (my computer is a POS).

It's your league, Stroke, so it's your call.  However, in several other leagues I've played in, the draft is indeed decided by the order you finished the previous season.

It's your league, Stroke, so it's your call.  However, in several other leagues I've played in, the draft is indeed decided by the order you finished the previous season.

Two small flaws in that statement...

First, it isn't "my" league...it's TDMMC's league. I just help set the league up occasionally and help wherever I can. I just thought Patsie's cursing and bitching in the draft room was extremely uncalled for, and something that the rest of the league owners shouldn't have to deal with. Please note that I didn't tell Patsie that he couldn't play next season...I just advised that if he wants others to want to play with him, he should learn to play well with others. ;)

Second, using previous seasons' results to determine draft order normally requires that the same owners are in the league each season, and that simply isn't the case here. Quite a few owners carry over, but quite a few are occasional participants and will be replaced by others the next season.  That screams "random draft order" for sure...

Extra note, since smack is always good this time of year.

I cannot believe that you guys allowed to build the insanely talented, boxscore-ravaging, megatronesque squad that currently sits on my team page. From my ground-pounding army-of-darkness RB corps led by Marion Barber to my Brees-Braylon-Calvin stealth bomber passing attack, this squad is locked tight and armed to the teeth. Looking at it, I'm reminded of last year's TDMMC squad in the DolFan Challenge, the one that missed a perfect season by 3 and a half points.  The 2008 Redzone Freakfest might be 4 points better...

I'm just sayin'! ;)

I figured if Brady isn't throwing a TD then Maroney is going to be running it in.

If anyone has any ideas why I took Dwayne Bowe when I did though, please let me know, I was half asleep and don't remember what my reasoning was :)

You've got this one.  You got a 10 point lead on alk3hol but he's done.  You've still got two guys going tonight.

I'm up on Guru 129 - 47, but he's still got Adrian Peterson and Donald Driver going.  Peterson has a big night against Green Bay's defense, he could pull this one out.

And you expect AD and Driver to combine for 560 yds and 6 TDs (82 pts), eh?

Extremely difficult, but not impossible.  And it was said without looking at the scoring matrix..... BTW, good job taking care of Lil B

I did the math wrong anyway (and no one noticed). It would be 460 yds and 6 scores, instead of 560, so only 230 and 3 TDs each for AD and Driver.

And there was me thinking that the selection of WRs was going to leave me screwed.....Brady was the safe pick at No.11.....

I'm kinda pleased I reached a little for Garrard but he looked shaky.

There's lots of people releasing Brady, but AFAIK he's not been placed on IR yet, and until he is SURELY it makes sesne to keep hold of him?!!?

You'll notice that due to time zones, I couldn't make any plays in the FA market until AFTER Stroke took Matt Cassell :)

I demand an extra 20 points per game for time zone deficiencies!

Title: Re: 2008 TDMMC Fantasy Football

Send me any offer for Cassel...I snagged him by instinct when Brady went down. ;)

Modified to add: Damn, dude...it looks you got doubly screwed. I hear that your WR, Nate Burleson, is going to be lost for the season as well.

I'm happy enough with Edwards and Garrard I think :)

I just picked up Seneca Wallance, but because he's listed as a QB you can't put him in a WR slot, which sucks as he's probably going to play WR for the Hawks this week.

Title: Re: 2008 TDMMC Fantasy Football
Post by: Sunstroke on September 09, 2008, 09:30:17 am

UK...in a 6 point passing TD league, I think you'll find that Garrard and Edwards don't throw enough to put up the points, so consider my offer open-ended. If you want to deal for Cassel or Favre in the future, just let me know.

Funk Soul Chicken... Good trading with ya. I hope DeSean Jackson continues to perform like he has, mainly because I drafted him in the late rounds in most of my leagues this year. Favre is Favre, and in a 6 point passing TD league, he will do fine.

On the players coming in...I hope I never have to use Felix, but expect the Bolts-D to go active roster pretty much immediately. Merriman be damned, they're still better than the Seachickens.

Title: Re: 2008 TDMMC Fantasy Football

I seemed to fill my roster with good individuals in some questionable teams.  With Brady then Burleson gone I needed a QB who could put points up and to stash inconsistent but potential stat monster players on my roster.

Thing is I'm always scared when trading with you, I always feel the need to check my back pocket to make sure the wallet and keys are still there ;)

I hear that occasionally, and I find it funny as heck every time. I understand that is probably more of a fantasy respect thing than any consideration that I'd try to shaft ya, but I still find it funny.

Even funnier, in this case, because our deal that was accepted was the counter-offer that you sent to me. Maybe I should check to make sure my own wallet is still there. ;D

I don't think anyone would argue with me when I say that I've probably seen as many trade offers from "the general unwashed masses" as anyone. During this time of year, I field 2-3 trade offers every day. I see more 3-for-1 and 2-for-1 garbage offers than anything else, and would much rather see offers from someone who actually looked at my roster and considered what my team needed before sending it.

I do this every time...which is why I tend to get a good amount of deals done. ;D

I don't think one week this early in the season can ruin your year, but I do understand your frustration with LT. If I wasn't already damned happy with my RB corps, I might make an offer in the hopes that his toe heals and he ends up playing like LT again at some point.

I'd Avoid Big Ben like the Plague...His line hasn't been able to protect him,He's playing a tough Baltimore Defense, without his Number one running back Willie Parker....Plus how good is his shoulder....Baltimore is going to try to take away the Run,and make Big Ben beat them. I think he's got a rough go....

Bufflao is Playing th eRams...I'd go with Edwards all day long...IMO..

Like I'm some expert Pfft.... ::) my two cents....I'm starting running backs against the odds this week against you Stink..You're 3-0 I'm 1-2 two giving you advice...Lol :D

Title: Which QB?
Post by: run_to_win on October 07, 2008, 04:10:16 pm
McNabb @ San Francisco

or

Palmer @ NY Jets?

The Jets have such a lousy pass defense that if this were a normal year for Palmer this decision would be a no-brainer.

Palmer, with little help from his running game (23 carries-61 yards), had a decent game vs Dallas and has played well in his last two games - but is still not putting up big numbers.

There are  3 teams to whom I have not identified the person's username in the forums.

They are

Primm and Proper
Brady Bunch
Two wins or bust

Could somebody please identify them for me?

AZ already ID'd himself as Primm and Proper.

Brady Bunch = Pats 2006

Two wins or bust I believe is CF Dolfan but I could be mistaken.

When my opponent had his defense + Mewelde Moore combine for 6 TDs in the early games, I figured my squad was headed for 3-4 with a bullet. Glad to see my boys responded well in the late games and pulled out a close win in a high scoring shootout.

Calvin Johnson... I was watching when you took that pass 95 yards to the house, and it was a thing of supreme beauty. I'll take another one just like it next week, please.

Steven Jackson is inactive for the Rams...

...as far as Addai goes, I don't think he's going to play, and if he does, he'll be less than 100% easily, and facing the brutally tough Titans run-D.  You probably don't want him in your active roster regardless.

This will be a big win for me if I can pull it off.  Of all the guys lumped in the tier behind Stroke and Stinkfish, I've got the head-to-head tiebreaker against them execpt Lil B.  I keep winning, I'm in the playoffs fo sho'

Good battle, Hoodie...any time you pop the century mark, you should have a shot at the W. My guys just all came out to play this weekend.

Is Stinky going to 10-1?

Nope...9-2 for you, and I'm going to hand-deliver another loss to you personally in the final week of the season.

I will become the first back to back champ in TDMMC FFL history this year...my mission is simple, and my focus unwavering.

Viva la Freakfest, biatches!!

Romo returning will be huge plus for me in these final weeks.

I have a lot of points, but things here and there have cost me several wins.

Tommy really played me for a sucker to get Cotchery.  And maybe I should not have released Derrick Ward

If Hoodie and the Brady Bunch lose, We all become 5-6, One game behind Tommy for the last playoff spot.

I have alkhol next week, whom I easily beat in Week 1.  If I beat him and Guru beats Tommy, I overtake him.  Meanwhile, Stinky plays Brady Bunch and if he beats him, I overtake him as well.  That leaves Hoodie, who has Funk Soul Chicken.

My matchup with alkhol is a slugfest like the Fish-pats game

Romo has 300 yards and 3 TDs
Lewis had 2 fumbles, which hurts me
Lee Evans had 110 yards

for alk,
Mclain got a meaningless TD and yards
Andre Johnson had a good game

My old pal, alk3hol, is up next...

Title: Re: 2008 TDMMC Fantasy Football
Post by: dolphins4life on November 23, 2008, 11:31:52 pm
according to Tommy I was down 16 going into the Sunday night games.

Vinatieri gave me 3 Field goals and 2 extra points

2 of the field goals were worth 3 points
1 of the field goals was worth 5 points
The two extra points were worth 2 points

LT gave me 1 more point than Addai

That means I made up 11 points, leaving me down 5 with Jennings and the GB defense going tonight

Tommy, I don't think head to head is the first tiebreaker.  Stroke told me it was points scored.

According to the league page, if the playoffs started this week.  I'd be facing you.

If, at the end of the season, two or more players finish with the same overall record, the following system will be used to break the tie:

   1. Overall winning percentage.
   2. Fantasy points scored.
   3. Fantasy points scored in Week 17.
   4. Fantasy points scored in Week 16.
   5. Fantasy points scored in Week 15.
   6. Fantasy points scored in Week 14.
   7. Fantasy points scored in Week 13.
   8. Fantasy points scored in Week 12.
   9. Fantasy points scored in Week 11.
  10. Fantasy points scored in Week 10.
  11. Fantasy points scored in Week 9.
  12. Fantasy points scored in Week 8.
  13. Fantasy points scored in Week 7.
  14. Fantasy points scored in Week 6.
  15. Fantasy points scored in Week 5.
  16. Fantasy points scored in Week 4.
  17. Fantasy points scored in Week 3.
  18. Fantasy points scored in Week 2.
  19. Fantasy points scored in Week 1.
  20. Random "coin flip".

In the event that a playoff game ends in a tie, the deadlock will be broken using the following system:

   1. Most touchdowns scored by entire starting roster.
   2. Most fantasy points by starting quarterback(s).
   3. Most fantasy points by starting defensive team(s).
   4. Most fantasy points by starting defensive player(s).
   5. Most fantasy points by starting defensive back(s).
   6. Most fantasy points by starting defensive linemen.
   7. Most fantasy points by starting wide receiver(s).
   8. Most fantasy points by starting running back(s).
   9. Most fantasy points by starting tight end(s).
  10. Most fantasy points by starting kicker(s).
  11. Random "coin flip".

And use keepers, maybe draft order also?

We go through these two issues every season... ;D

We cannot have keepers, and we can't have pre-determined draft order, because the members in the league aren't the same from year to year. Sure, we have some that play pretty much every year, but there are ALWAYS a couple, sometimes more, who are in one year, out the next...and maybe back the following season.

Yeah, I plan on playing again next year.

Cool...good to hear this, but there will STILL be 1-2 every year that don't play the next, and that kills the keeper option and draft order determination right there.

OK, let's take a look at the playoff picture (Stroke, feel free to correct any of my errors).  Here are the standings as they are with one game to go:

*1. Redzone Freakfest 10-3-0  (Sunstroke)
*2. Stinky 10-3-0  (Stinkfish)
3. Orlando Obliterators 8-5-0 (Tommy)
4. TheLasVegasSucks 8-5-0  (GuruInVegas)
5. Hillbilly Head Trama 7-6-0  (Lil B)
6. 4lifers 7-6-0  (Dolphins4life)
7. Primm & Proper 7-6-0  (AZ Fins Fan)
8. Brady Bunch 5-8-0  (Pats 2006)
9. 2 Wins or Bust 5-8-0  (CF Dolfan)
10. Hoodie 5-8-0  (MyGodWearsAHoodie)
11. alk3hol 3-10-0 (alk3hol)
12. Funk Soul Chicken 3-10-0  (Dolphin UK)

*Clinched playoff spot

It's safe to say that everyone from Pats on down will be ending their season next week.

There are six playoff spots up for grabs, two of which have already been nabbed by Stroke and Stinkfish.  Coincidentally, they face each other this week for the number one seed.

As for the other four spots, there are five contenders.  Here are the matchups for the contenders for those spots

Tommy vs Hoodie
Guru vs Pats
Lil B vs Alk3hol
Dolphins4life vs AZ <~~~~~~ This matchup is key.  The loser of this matchup will be eliminated if Lil B wins.  If Lil B loses, it'll go to the tiebreakers that Sunstroke has listed.

I'm not facing Sir Stinkalot this week for the number one seed... I am maliciously beating El Stinko Grande to hold on to my #1 seed. The boxscore brutality will also send the same sort of message that a rolled up newspaper says to the stinky puppy...this is my house, don't pee on my carpet.

Game on, biatches... ;D

Well, 4lifers-Primm and Proper matchup looks to be cutthroat.

Not starting Sproles as WR/RB was ruinous for me.  I might have already clinched if not for that move.

For Me:

LT = 91 rushing yards, TD

For AZ:

D. McFadden: 0 rush yards and 9 rec yards
Zach Miller:  64 rec yards

Not over by a long shot, given the inconsistency of Lewis.

The battle between me and AZ rages on.

Az has more than made up for a disappointed Thursday, with Roddy White tearing up the Saints D.

GB's D has TOs and a sack, but has allowed 21 points, which doesn't bode well for me.

Lewis was held without a single point this point, which could really hurt

Anybody's matchup heading into the 4:00 games

Good season everyone.  And for those who did not make it to the playoffs, hopefully you can next year.

Here's the playoff picture as it stands:

Guru and Lil B will face each other this week for the right to go against Stroke next week.

AZ and myself will be facing each other for the right to go against Stinkfish next week.

Uggghhh finally the season is over....

A short review:

1: Tom Brady
2: Laurence Maroney
3: Chad Ocho Cinco

Enough said really.....the highlight of my season was fleecing Mr Sun "el maistro" Stroke in our trade of Favre and Jackson for Jones and SD D/ST :)

I still maintain that my time difference puts me at a disadvantage, by the time I learn of player injuries or see players on the wire perform, they're already gone :)

For reference in my UK fantasy league I finished a respectable 8th of 14 on 0.500 and had the third highest pts scored, with 2 > 100 pt losses and 4 > 80pt losses :)

Three thoughts here...

1) Did Favre and Jackson give you much since the trade? I've had both benched most of the season for inconsistency on other squads.

2) Can it really be called "fleecing" if both players from my end were rotting deep on my pine and had no shot of hitting the active roster?

3) Looking at where we both finished in the standings, I only wish I had given you more. ;)

Good luck to the 4 teams battling in the first round of the playoffs this week. Stinky and I will wait pateintly for the winners.

Can you please NOT destroy my unhealthily biased version of our trade :)  Favre was never a full time starter for me, I found myself starting Edwards and Garrard as well based on matchups and desperation.  Jackson was inconsistent as a starter but used purely out of lack of options.  The only good bit of the trade really was that something made me give you the SD D/ST rather than the eagles which turned out to be a decent move.

I think I finished last last year too?

You want a fleecing? I made a trade in the preseason to try to get the anchor for my #2 RB (at that time anyway), Willis McGahee. I thought Ray Rice was going to become Baltimore's most valuable fantasy back at some point this season, so I dealt one of my bench rookie RBs straight up...

Chris Johnson for Ray Rice

Yeah, ouch... Two silver linings on that extremely bad trade though. I still managed to be the #2 seed going into the playoffs, due in part to my "other" bench rookie RB (Forte) kicking ass all season. Second lining...it was a good friend that I dealt Johnson to, and we are on opposite sides of the playoff bracket, and with both of us having big leads after this week, we'll probably face each other in the title match.

Well...Me and Vegas are coming down to the wire.  Vegas with a 3 point lead and Donald Driver left to go. I have my kicker, Mason Crosby.

Driver is averaging just under 7 pts per game in his last 6...
Crosby is averaging just over 9 pts per game in his last 6...

Since a tie is distinctly possible, I am cutting and pasting the tiebreakers. Las Vegas...you don't want it to go to tiebreakers, because I win the first two clean.

In the event that a playoff game ends in a tie, the deadlock will be broken using the following system:

1.   Most touchdowns scored by entire starting roster. (Freakfest 4, Vegas 3)
2.   Most fantasy points by starting quarterback(s). (Freakfest 27, Vegas 7)

So...basically, if I want to live to face Stinky in the Finals, I need Crosby to outscore Driver by 3.

Game on!!

I've got a 7 point lead on Lil B.  Williams, Thomas, and Wayne all did brilliant for me this week, but that was negated by Kurt Warner getting his ass kicked in the snow in New England.

Lil B still has Matt Forte and Greg Olsen going tonight, and I have Chicago's defense.  Forte is hurting, so it's very up in the air.

Title: Re: 2008 TDMMC Fantasy Football
Post by: Sunstroke on December 22, 2008, 05:52:13 pm

Forte appears to be fine... I just watched a WGN news report that showed him cutting on it in practice, and there were no grimaces or any favoring that toe. The words he used himself were "good to go" before he disappeared inside the building.

Olsen is a perfect boom or bust TE...I predict he'll either drop a goose egg or notch 12-13 pts. Nothing in between.

YAY!!!

The Sucks kept their hearts in the game and finished their cinderella season in the manner that most surprised their owner. . .

Despite the team owner's terrible management skills and lack of interest ( he's a dick that's in it for the money ) they played well enough to earn them a spot in TDMMC history as well as a well deserved name change for next year.

You won't be seeing this team in Disney World, however.  Way too expensive.  You can catch them partying the best way horny bastards know how. . . at the Spearmint Rhino funding "college educations".  HUZZAH ! ! !

The media unfriendly Sucks owner even submitted a brief statement during a moment of sobriety.

You gave it a good run Stinky.  I thought for sure I was going to lose to you.  Well I thought I was going to lose to Stroke for sure too but with the Dolphins making the playoffs it's just one of them years!! Hats off to all of you, I'm sure any other week it would have turned out differently.

Congratulations Guru.  I beat the champ twice this season, I can dig that.

Congrats Guru. Unfortunately the Stinky head coach was another victim of an angry owner  today. Anyone need an assistant for next season?

Don't forget...the TDMMC Playoff Challenge offers boxscore redemption for all FFL GM's.
