Mike and Mike on ESPN had Miami and Jacksonville in their 2-a-days segment yesterday.  During this conversation, Greenberg (a lousy Jets' fan) claimed there's no way the Dolphins win more than 4 games this season.

Shock value. Greeny is not really a sports analyst. He can talk your ear off regarding sports, but he doesn't really have a clue what the hell he's talking about. Him and Golic get into it constantly over what Greeny says. It makes for some great radio, but from a true sports analyst perspective, Greeny is an idiot.

And he's a Jet's fan, what do you expect?  >:D

I'm curious though, what did Golic say? He's played in the NFL, he knows the NFL and he knows a lot of the current players. He usually has a pretty good pulse on things. I also respect what Stink has to say. Greeny is just a foil.

Mike Golic has a chip on his shoulder from his time playing with the Dolphins; apparently, they treated him poorly and he's carried a grudge ever since.  He has always had a negative/pessimistic outlook on the team.

BTW, Golic predicted 4-12.

Golic picked 4-12....Yeah I don't really care what they think, I've not cared what they say since about 2004....and I barely cared then....

They did 15 minutes of research (if that) and watched highlights from the past two preseason games...Hardly mentioned the defense till Golic brought it up in the end.

Once we get that official TDMMC "season predictions" thread up, I'm pretty sure my pick for Miami is going to either be 7-9 or 6-10, but before you totally crucify Mike & Mike for lowballing Miami with a 3-13 or 4-12 prediction, consider this...

A 3-13 record would certainly put Miami in contention for a shot at the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

So, basically, if Miami struggles and is out of playoff contention early - say 2-6 at the midway point - and it appears that Henne hasn't progressed and really is the biggest part of the offensive problem, then maybe I look at a possible 3-13 finish a little bit differently than I do right now. ;)

Greenberg is a dumbass.....most of the time he is full of shit which is why I quit listening to him. The only way that happens is if the Phins have a lot of injuries. They are not a great team but they are not a terrible team either.

I don't remember what was said on the broadcast but if you look at the link, it pretty-clearly says 6-10 under Golic's name.  Not sure where the 4-12 came from...

Am I the only one with positive thoughts about this season?

I cannot see us winning LESS than 7 games this season.

8-8 will be realistic with those 8 losses being close ones. 

Our defense is going to be the best in years and our offense CANNOT be worse than last year.  I'd be willing to bet our offense despite all the Henne hate is going to be a big improvement from last year. 

yawn.  another half-assed sportswriter making predictions based on nothing other than his hardon for a hometown team.

In Greenberg's defense ... I've seen him do the sky is falling predictions for the Jets even when others thought differently.  I know he is a Jets fan and has said he hates the Dolphins but I think like all sports writers/talkers, he is subject to what he is exposed to.  He typically goes with the majority opinion and never really has any "inside" scoop on things.  I'd take it for what it is worth ... nothing.  Both of those guys are entertaining but I certainly wouldn't make any bets based on their opinion.   

The people who constantly rag on Henne and Sparano would probably "secretly" love to see a 3-13 mark, as it would likely mean that Sparano would be gone, and Henne would be replaced by Luck.

I'm so sick of hearing about Luck.  He is a LOONNGGG way from being a starting NFL QB.  Happens every year, the guy who reporters clamor would be a #1 pick this year, end up going much later in the draft the following year.

Anytime anyone says something negative about the Dolphins, like "you're going 3-13 this season", you all brush it off and insult the person. If I was looking at TDMMC posts to try to find out who the best announcer / TV host / Radio personality is for sports, I wouldn't find anything because according to all of you, they're idiots and don't know shit and are bad hosts and are "lucky to even have a job".

This goes back to the "Dolphins Fan Ego" thing, where, for whatever reason, Dolphins fans in general have this very large ego about their team, as if their team has done shit in the last 10 years. The Dolphins in the last 10 years have been a complete joke of a football franchise - everything from QB controversy, ownership changes, players quitting on the team, players calling out coaches / GMs / owners, bad on-the-field play and an owner who doesn't know shit from shit has happened - yet Dolphins fans still go around chanting "1972!" and "we're going 12-4 and at least the AFC title game" this year.

...which is why I love the Anti-Fins section. The more of this nonsense you provide, the more material I have. Garbage in, Garbage out.

For the record, Mike Greenberg is WAY OFF on his 3-13 prediction. The Dolphins are going 0-16 this year, which is 3 full wins from Greenberg's insane prediction and 4 to 6 wins away from Golic's outlandish, ludicrous forecast.

What exactly do you expect? I'm sure if I went to a NY Giants fan forum, the fans would be pro Giants, that's to be expected. What's also expected is that if I showed up as Dolphins fan and started tossing around the idea the Giants were gonna be 4-12 this year, I'd get a few responses that I was crazy.

Lets talk again after week 8 and see how your 0-16 prediction is shaping up.

I heard Mike Golic back up and punt this morning on his earlier 4 win prediction for Miami. Apparently he realized that the number of losses he was giving Miami on their schedule had to coincide with the number of wins he was giving to their opponents on their schedules and he realized he'd made a mistake. Today he said that Miami would win 6 games and said the reason he believed that was because he had zero faith in Henne and hasn't since Henne joined the league and the fact that they had to play both New England the the Jets twice. He then conceeded that if Henne actually started to show him something that 6 win total would change because he does believe that Miami has a top 10 defense and that Bush and Marshall are enough on the offensive side of the ball as long as Henne plays better this year than last year.

I figured as much. When Golic took a REAL look at Miami's schedule and wasn't just throwing out something for shock value he added 2 wins and the potential for a couple more. That's not that much different from what I have projected for them.

It finally looks like it might stick - halfway through the season - and you break out the genius tag? If you really want to stretch the term and call him genius, then at least do it for something worthy, like the book he wrote on SEO...not for the same "guess" he makes every year.

I don't think you need to have played the game to have insight. Sometimes, not being intimately connected helps keep your head clean and uncompromised.

I know he's rich, but I won't say he knows more about football than me.

Let's be honest here. It's probably 50-50 at best that all the producers and executives at ESPN were wrong about him, and his football knowledge is such that he doesn't know more than any of us, let alone warrant having his own radio show, be a SC anchor, and periodically actually call a MNF game. But even if anyone here does actually know more about football than he does (doubtful), at the end of the day what does that knowledge get you? It certainly isn't worth more than six million dollars....so why all the hate for the Greenman and what's with the notion from some that his football knowledge (or lack thereof, however you view it) somehow equates to him being a "walking pile of pigshit"? -EK

Because he's a homer and doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.  I don't care who signs his paychecks.  Him commenting on the Dolphins, a team he knows jack shit about,  is no more absurd than asking me to comment on what it's like to be a woman.

I think I had us much higher than 3-13 because I thought our defense would remember how to tackle.  So he's beaten me on a single prediction.  Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.

Totally get and respect that.
