Title: Dolphins sign Garrard
Post by: bsfins on March 19, 2012, 08:29:03 pm
Via Omar Kelly's Twitter account
RT @JayGlazer: Just got a text from David Garrard telling me he's now a Miami Dolphin

(I wanted to confirm it through Jay Glazer, the other day Omar had an impostor....)

The story apparently also came from a Jags beat writer...

On the bright side,Omar Kelly is saying it's only a 1 year deal....

QB David Garrard signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins. Terms were not disclosed.

I'm trying to look at this sign as glass half full..

Let the rebuilding begin.

Rebuilding with who? We have Matt Moore and David Garrard.

The same David Gararrd who didn't play last year because his heart wasn't in it. When those paychecks stopped I bet his heart got in it real fast.

If by "heart" you mean "back" then I agree with you

If we don't draft an obvious future QB prospect, I will officially get on the Fire Ireland bandwagon.  This makes no sense to me at all.  I need another team I can watch for a year, any ideas?

So untill May, I will live in a state of confusion.  Fucking great.

You can't rebuild without first destroying the building. I think Moore + Garrard - Marshall = Destruction.

What rhymes with Barkley that means playing terribly?

Can't draft Barkley at number 8. No way we end up in last place. Even we would screw that up if a potential QB was available. Best we can do is OL or a Ronnie Brown.

Do not care for this signing but I understand they need a QB and can only assume Culpepper wasn't available.

THey were 0-7 last year and didn't have the guts to follow through on the job. They were halfway home. To give up in March and think they will tank all of next year with a rookie head coach, I dont see it. I really think they are all just dumb!

Manning.  Nope.
Flynn.  Nope
Alex Smith.  Nope.

David Garrard.  Hells yeah!  Can't rebuild until you hit rock bottom.  This move gets us moving toward the bottom fast.

Have Ross/Ireland come out and said they're playing for the number one overall pick in 2013?  It sure seems that way.

Help me here guys.

If we cut him before the season and there was nearly no signing bonus and very little guarenteed money, we don't really lose anything right?

I say bring in Tebow because only God can help us now.

Not to start a war, but I hope the people who were against "Suck for Luck" see now how devastating winning a few meaningless games turned out to be.

No one wants our team to lose games, but what if we lost 4 more and were able to pick #2? Would any of these disasters be happening? No, because we wouldn't even be in the market for a QB. Or, if we did want to make a run at Peyton, we had fallback plans and options. Maybe we sign him and trade our pick to Washington and do a proper rebuild. Maybe we don't, but still have RG3.

Hell, maybe Fisher comes here. But, we won a bunch of meaningless games, missed the playoffs and don't have a game changing draft pick. I said it before and I'll say it again: If you aren't going to make the playoffs, then just lose every game.

Thank you!  Someone needed to say this.  All that, your not a real fan if you are onboard with suck for luck, crap was rediculous.  The guy was the best QB prospect in over a decade.

I can see Gerrard with a little JoBoo in his locker and Tebow arguing with him over whether or not Jesus Christ can throw a spiral.

Now we just need the Janitor from "Scrubs" reading a paper and saying "Who are these fucking guys?".

Tebow would steal JoBoo's rum and then get sacked.

I agree and you can't expect the team too. Win, lose or draw, playing in an NFL game involves getting your ass kicked. It's a brutal sport, so you never tank. What you can do though is ROOT for them to lose, and that's what I was doing. It sucked, but I was looking ahead and hoping to avoid an offseason like this.

I hear ya.  I think it was a common misconception with the whole Suck for Luck thing that teams were just going to tank on purpose

Back in the Deep South sipping on that Purple Drank stuff that's made with prescription level cough syrup.

I can see Gerrard with a little JoBoo in his locker and Tebow arguing with him over whether or not Jesus Christ can throw a spiral.

After looking at all the empty seats in Sun Life Stadium this year, expect to hear a lot of, "In case you haven't noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven't" from the Dolphins radio announcers.

I only know what I read and what a few of my students say about it.  From what I can see it's made with prescription level cough syrup and Sprite or 7up and that it's more potent than some hard liquors.

Apparently it was made up by a few rappers from the Deep South.  It's the prescription level cough syrup being shared that makes it illegal.

You are talking about the Three 6 Mafia. They made a song a few years ago called Sipping Syrup.

Now that was priceless. Only Tebow would end up with a concussion. So Matt Moore would be required to save the day. By winning the whole f'n thing.

Garrard is probably going to back up Moore.  I'd be very surprised if we don't draft a QB.  I'm not freaking out yet.

This is what I figure as well...  Sad thing is we have less of a receiving threat now!   Unless we make a play for Wallace I don't see our offense being much of a threat...

I like the Garrard signing.  Now they won't be tempted to sign Tebow as the backup QB if they already have Garrard as the Backup.  Geez guys, its not like they signed Garrard to be the franchise savior, it's a one year deal, c'mon lighten up.

This won't hinder a Tebow signing. If they trade for Tebow, he is the starter and there probably won't even be a competition for it either.

You only trade Tebow for star power, as it's obviously not for his ability, although I do admire his work ethic and toughness. Garrard is a backup. Moore is a backup. Tebow is a backup who will be starting for this team if we trade for him.

I am hoping that this statement holds some truth......I am not at all happy about the 34 year old Garrard signing but I may actually force myself off the tallest building in downtown Phoenix if Tebow, Lineart, or Vince Young is our next QB.
