In regard to Dion Jordan's push on Luck, I noticed yesterday that there were many occasions where our defenders would pressure or even grab the QB and then release quickly and put their hands in the air.  It was obvious that they had been coached to avoid penalties.  And to Philbin's credit, no penalties yesterday, plus a demeanor of calmness the whole time -- he acts like we deserve to be there, which I like.  I suspected that Jordan's issue might've been this, and I'm OK with it.  ...not the end result, but I'd rather have a guy trying to avoid penalties than a guy who is overly aggressive and getting personal fouls that extend drives.  He is also a rookie and there is a learning curve.

yeah but how do you not want to crush a QB when you have a wide open run at him?  The ONLY explanation is what he said - he thought the ball was gone.  I have been searching for the reply to see if that's plausible, because I remember the ball being in the hand that Dion was closest to when Luck pulled it down.

Learning curve, yes, but in that situation, you gotta make that play.
