Title: Shame of the game -at Bears
Post by: dolphins4life on October 19, 2014, 04:27:45 pm
The entire offense.

Seriously, they kept giving the Bears chances to stay in the game.

You gotta be kidding me. Is this a joke? The offense was damn near perfect today.

Does he mean the defense?

Not sure what he means. Not sure he has a high football IQ

Only shame of the game is the special teams for some mishaps and poor play. That's about it today. Philbin's challenge was bad but that was pretty minor.

My football IQ is probably a lot higher than yours

Second half:

Two turnovers, converted into only three points to keep the Bears in the game.

Then, a drive stalls in the redzone also keeping the bears in the game.

This is going to come back to bite them in the future.

If you think the offense was bad today you didn't watch the same game or don't understand American football

It was bad in the latter part of the second half

When they were running out the clock cause the game was over. Yep. Sorry they didn't run it up for ya

And you think I have the low football IQ...........................

That game was NOT over until one minute left.

The offense twice failed three times to get touchdowns in the red zone in the second half.

Two of those times were when a touchdown would have put the game away

My Shame of the Game goes to Caleb Sturgis for missing two field goals, one that was under 40 yards

My Shame of the Game goes to Caleb Sturgis for missing two field goals, one that was under 40 yards

He missed one from 50 and the other one was blocked.

Seriously, how is what I am saying flawed?

Time of possession: 37:22

but they couldn't finish the drives that would have put the game away

The game was not over until one minute left... when the Dolphins were still ahead by two TDs?

Only a three TD lead is an acceptable win?

The Bears could have scored and recovered an onside kick

Remember Tebow?

eating up clock was more important at that point, they had control of the game. They were in FG range. It was about shortening the game and taking the 3

They also didn't turn the ball over. If they had, then you could say the offense was letting the Bears back in the game.

The offense gave us a two score lead. When the Bears came out of the half and drove the field for 7, the offense responded with 7. The game was over at that point.

My rule is I don't consider a game over unless the opponent has to recover two onside kicks to comeback

That's silly

How so?

One onside kick is hard but very possible

Two in row is almost impossible

Arguing with you guys really feels like I'm banging my head against a wall

Caleb Sturgis for the Missed FGs.  Whats with him ??? He was so clutch at Florida.  him hitting 50+ yrd FG was nothing to him

Bang it long enough, and you might actually start making sense. Giving the shame to the offense when Tannehill had the best game of his relatively young career does seem pretty silly. As a matter of fact, despite the fact that I really do like you, I am going to throw a flag on you for being Intentionally Ungrounded.  Back it up ten yards and keep running post patterns until you get it right. ;)

How about the refs for trying to infuse a bit of excitement in the game with some ticky-tack calls in the second half? IMHO there's a general tendency among refs to do this (very annoying).

He only "missed" one field goal. The other one was blocked.

^^^ Last I checked, that goes into the missed column.

Sturgis by far gets the shame.

I appreciate the passion that dolphins4life obviously has for the team.  And he seems like he is probably a nice enough guy.  But whew, he sure does come out with some things that make me think to myself, "WTF, did I read that right?  Let me go back and re-read it."

Was the blocked field goal the fault of Sturgis or the offensive line?

You could place it on both I guess. Line should have blocked better and Sturgis should have put more height on the kick... It was only a thirty something yarder.

D4Life - Who's negativity on the Game Logs here, makes it impossible to read during a game.  Last week he was calling for Matt Moore at halftime, this week the negativity started before the game and continued throughout.  Any unbiased observer would say Miami had a great game.  It is a rarity that an NFL game goes flawlessly for any team, you have to expect your team to make a few mistakes every game.

Sturgis is starting to get a lifetime achievement award -- sure, that one kick may have been because of poor protection, but he might have been able to kick it higher, as well.  I'm just having a hard time making excuses for this many missed kicks.

He misses a lot of kicks.  There are two more this week....sure, they might've been far or might've had additional pressure, but it's getting out of hand.

He was 9 of 10 before this game with his lone miss from over 50 yards I believe. He was having a pretty good season until the Chicago game and missed a 50 yarder and had the other one blocked.

He seemed shaky in preseason (doesn't matter, I know).

He's at 78 percent for this year.
He was at 76 percent last year.

It looks like more of the same to me.

You can't throw a flag on that play, I may have been in the pocket, but there was definitely a receiver in the area   ;)

That wasn't a receiver, it was a beer vendor in section 425...  ;)

^^^ And I haven't seen a beer vendor in the stands at an NFL game in at least a decade.  :D
