Title: The Cubs and Red Sox are on a collision course!
Post by: MaineDolFan on September 30, 2016, 02:30:28 pm
...which means the World Series is going to be between the Mets and the Indians.

As the playoffs and the teams who are in get more clear who does everyone like?

I do like the Sox.  But, shit. They are streaky and you never know what you'll get out of Price.  The offense will hammer you into submission for eight games in a row and then vanish for three - those are the games they really need pitching; they really haven't gotten it CONSISTENLY out of anyone other than Porcello.

Texas deserves a medal, hug and a cuddle for the magic show they've pulled off.

IF Toronto gets it, don't sleep on them.

Clearly, all eyes are on the north side.  I think they are going to have a REALLY hard time with the Mets.

And I think Cleveland will be a really, really tough out.

Basically, I have no freaking clue.  What about you?

I think the Cubs are going to struggle with everyone in the National league playoffs.

Lester, and Hendricks I think will be good.I have less faith in Arrieta,Lackey have been up and down recently. The Bullpen still has a lot of shakiness getting to Chapman.Offensively RISP has been been a problem.

Ultimately the Dodgers will take us out...

OR

I think the Cardinals will beat us (If they make it),like we did to them last year.

The Cubs got off to such a fast start they haven't played a pressure filled baseball game all year. What they started 22-5 or something close to that. They haven't had a "big game" or a "pressure game" or "pressure moment" all season.

I could see them totally choking and going out early in the playoffs when they are finally in a pressure moment/big game. I hope not, I want to see this curse end in my lifetime. But it wouldn't shock me at all.  They have been coasting since April, never had a big inning. A big spot. Or a pressure filled game.

My preseason WS pick was Cubs-Astros, so hopefully I'll get at least half of that right.

Well, if any team takes them out I hope it is the Dodgers.......  ;) ;)

Well, if any team experiences a roster-wide gonorrhea epidemic and is forced to forfeit their playoff match-up, I hope it is the Dodgers......  ;) ;)

I really haven't followed baseball much this season; so just from the team histories I'd like to see either the Cubs or Indians win.

Here's to praying, trying to have some faith my team can do it...No Cardinals automatically makes it better...I don't have to hear it from all my co-workers.

Cubs roll through the playoffs...Addison Russell becomes the youngest World Series MVP ever.

;D Watching every Cubs game,it's awesome seeing him grow, and forget how young he is.

Go Cubs,the road begins here.

I drafted Addison in my local keeper league three years ago, before Chicago traded for him. Arguably my favorite non-Padres player out there (though Boynton Beach's own Trea Turner (my "other" keeper) is close

I see Addison as a young Derek Jeter...he's only going to get better over the next 4-5 years.

Its weird that this year the jays led in the AL in attendance hasn't happened in awhile.

Sad to see Big Papi walk to the mound for a final time.  He cried all the way

I think it will be very hard for the Cubs to bounce back from that Game 3 loss.

That was a game they should have won.

It's the same story for all of their last few postseason appearances.  The offense disappears.  The only significant production they have been getting is from their pitching.

I normally root for the Red Sox, but when they are eliminated I root for the Cubs out of sympathy.

Their fans have it worse than we do as Dolphins fans.

I'm happy that the Tribe finally exorcised their demons with the Red Sox.

I think the Cubs are definitely feeling the pressure of playoffs past.

I wonder how much that affects a team.

I think the Dolphins go through the same thing.

Cubs look really shaky right now here in game 4

Edit:  That was an amazing rally to steal that win.

Listening to bay area radio today,  a bunch of people are complaining about Bochy taking out Matt Moore because of his pitch count. Is this pure hindsight managing?

Well it was a three run lead, I understand that some of them might have been thinking at least he could have started the inning and been taken out if a batter reached base.

I agree with What Derosa mentioned on MLB tonight,If Bruce Bochy couldn't trust his bullpen to get 3 outs, with a 3 run lead. They weren't going anywhere in the playoffs.

We shall see if my prediction of the Dodgers will take the Cubs out,can be true tonight...

Don't like the decisions the Cubs have made here in this game.

The Dodgers on the other hand, are making good decisions.

Edit:  I still think walking to load the bases was the right decision there.  You want to force the Cubs to take out their best pitcher.

Not to be OMG The world is tumbling down, but I do believe for the Cubs this series it really depends what Jake Arrieta shows up tonight. If the Cy young winner 2015,beginning of the year pitcher,or the pedestrian Jake from State Farm pitcher from the 2nd half of this year. The 2nd half 2016 Jake shows up,I think my prediction will be realized soon....

On the bright side, We won 1 game in the NLCS this year an improvement over last year. :-[ :P

They need better offensive production too.

And to manufacture some runs

Not liking what I am seeing so far in this one

Missing chances like that really hurts you against a good pitching staff

History definitely plays a factor for the Cubs here, I think it is in the players heads.

Season is starting to slip away for the Cubs.

If they can't win anything with this roster, maybe they will indeed never win anything

:D The Key is for me not to see parts of the game...The big Win against S.F. I fell asleep on my couch watching the game, and woke up to post game that we won. Last night,we had training thunderstorms, power flickering, and intermittently going off...Just long enough to turn the T.V. off,and make the enough satellite dish to reboot.I'd catch an inning lose an inning,Usually my internet would boot back quicker, and I'd catch what happened on twitter.

This was almost a must win for the Cubs tonight because Kershaw is very difficult to beat.

We could be heading for a game 7 at Wrigley Field.

My Mom was 2,the last time the Cubs made it to the World series.

Hell has definitely frozen over....The Chicago Cubs are going to the world series...Everyone please prepare for the apocalypse,if we win...

Go Cubs!

I do want to say I'm happy to hear the players saying, "We still have to win 4 more games,it's not enough just to make it to the world series,we're there to win it." It seems (myself included intitally) were satisfied because we just made it to the world series. As a franchise it' is pretty historical to the W.S.,same with for the Cleveland Indians, not making it to the World series since 1948,and Cubs in 1945.

I've seen an article written by Arod, and few by other writers crediting Theo, and saying it's ok if we lose this one.The Cubs are built to make a few runs at winning the world series. Most of us being Dolphins fans know how horrible that thinking is,Dan Marino only got 1 shot at the superbowl.

Go Cubs....

The Indians went to the WS twice in the '90s.  They haven't won since 1948.

Thank you....I just kept seeing the 1948,I really don't follow the AL. and was a very casual fan back then.I caught the Cubs game, when I had cable,on WGN/ESPN back then.
